Holy goddamn! ROTS is gonna fucking rock!

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

Oh, Chux....... you're breaking my heart. I'm so disappointed that you didn't like it (I almost feel sorry - but it's not my fault I don't think). After all the fucking WORK it was trying to stay spoiler free, I would be furious if I hadn't liked it. I completely understand. Do you think there's any chance it might grow on you?

I must say, I'm quite surprised that we're so far apart on our first impressions! I haven't gone back to see it again, but looking back I guess the ending was a little rushed, editorially speaking. A few more seconds with each shot (particulary Vader on board the Destroyer looking out at the Death Star) would have given us a little more time to say goodbye to the series.

I really was an emotional mess throughout that whole thing. When the lights came up it was all I could do to get out of there without getting into a big discussion with the guys I went with - I just wanted to be alone. Yoda saying to Bail Organa "Failed, I have" or whatever he said to that effect, was the single most heart-wrenching movie experience I've ever had. Possibly a weird spot to get teary, but things had really gone to hell by that point and poor old Yoda just seemed so forlorn and lost...... it was really hard to watch. Not the feel good hit of the summer, but we weren't expecting that.

I agree JJ. I left more numb than happy I just saw a kick ass movie.

I guess Ill need to see it again soon.

It seemed to me. that Anikin was within a hair of not joining the dark side.. and had Mace given him just an ounce of trust, or not been such a dick on the council,. that he wouldnt have turned.. I blame Mace.

I also think he deserved to die.. Mace that is.. as his acting STILL sucked. dunno., guess I never could see Mace as a Jedi. He is too bad ass and never really played the part the way a Jedi should be played.

so.. Im numb.. still. Ill have to see it again.

the wookies were awesome. yet the scene was too quick. Yoda feeling all the Jedi dying. that hurt. and yes, him telling Bail that he had failed.. wow.

Actually, seeing as how both Aayla and Barris were on the same planet, it would've been nice for the planet to be Cunnilingooine.

Now that'd be a great two hours and twenty-six minutes. [beard][beard][beard][beard][beard]

Man, I got the storybook of the movie for my kids - but the picture of Aayla in there keeps making me want to go pull the goalie. I think she had fake twilek cans for ROTS, same as the blonde twilek hottie that's going into the ballet.

Is it me or did all the Jedi go out like punk bitches? These so called supernatural warriors with all their vaunted pre cognizant "Force" powers, could have got thier asses handed to them by a bunch of short bus kindergartners. Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin had time to scream like little girls. Smilin' Kit Fisto got in a lick or two before he too went down like a Susan. All Aalya could manage was a confused look. I mean, Lucas' kid put up more of a fight than 95% of the council.

And why is it every time a ship lands/docks somewhere, the landing portal fits that ship exactly? When Obi Wan land Greivous' fighter on the Tantive IV is there ANY other ship in the world that could fit in that dock? The same goes for Padme's Naboo Skiff managing to squeeze down on Polis Massa. If they had been in the Falcon, they never would have made it in.

Okay, I'll take a crack at the "one size fits all" docking bays question.

Check out parking spaces next time you're at the mall. They're made to fit hundreds of cars, trucks vans and SUVs - which have all been designed to fit into parking spaces (as well as drive safely in lanes of traffic). My opinion is that certain docking bays are "cruiser class" or "light freighter class" or what have you. If he knew it wouldn't fit, he wouldn't have parked there.

Now, on to the Jedi. To me, that's styllized for effect. Much in the same way that I believe Han shot first, I believe that the Jedi managed to take a few clones with them. To elicit an emotional response from the audience, GLu decided to show a few go out like shocked victims as opposed to instinct controlled machines of lightsaber wielding devastation. It works with the musical score - at least it sure worked on me.

Seriously though EP, I can't tell from your post whether or not you like the show. From the sounds of things you've bought a few toys..... so didja like it?

<br />Well, as per AOTC, I was completely blown away by the first viewing. The first 100 pages of the novel deal with Ani getting rid of Dooku, I don't know how the fuck they squeezed all the rest of that shit in there.

There are so many topics to discuss with respect to ROTS, I honestly have no idea where to start - I think I'll make lists.

THINGS I REALLY LIKED

- ObiWan actually defeats Anakin on Mustafar (both legs? Are you KIDDING ME??????)both legs and his good arm!!
- the emotional response the "order 66" triggered within me (Fuck, I was an emotional wreck the whole time, it was all I could do to keep it together when the fucking Lucasfilm logo came up let alone watching Clones gun down Jedi in cold blood.... and Ani killing the kids? My God......)I agree
- the dialogue, amazingly enough
- the complete and utter lack of any stupid comedy relief bits or segments (which is an absolutely HUGE thing for me, I can't think of anything bigger really)
- how FUCKING BAD Anakin got by the end there,
- all the lightsaber fights were amazing
- no requisite "space battle just for the sake of having a space battle" space battle
- and a million other things

THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE

There aren't many, let's put it that way. More later, once I've seen it a couple more times and can actually question some things. I didn't like Vader doing the Frankenstein-like "NOOOOOOO" with both hands raised (nit picky, I know, it was fine really). I thought Grievous' screen time was a lot less exciting than I figured he would be. He was different than I expected, but I'll get used to him.

THINGS I MIGHT NEED HELP UNDERSTANDING

What does Padme say right before she dies? She asks Obi-wan to look after her kids

More about Qui Gon and the ability to avoid death, why he didn't "fade out", etc. Maybe the book will get me there.

And a million other things.

I'm very happy for now, but just going to the theatre had me close to tears, I kept thinking it was the last "first time" I'd see a new SW movie and stupid shit like that. To see it coming to an end tonight was really painful - almost like growing up over the course of a couple of hours or something.

Anyone starting to get primed for the upcoming DVD release, or do you dinks already have it on DVD? Personally, I've been promised an illicit copy, but it hasn't shown up yet. I'm really, really looking forward to November 1st.

I've got a copy of the DVD and I've got a copy on my laptop. They're both mid quality so I can't wait for the DVD to come out. Can't do much with a grainy copy with Asian subtitles.
