Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
DB, I just watched the "Chill of the Night" episode again. If not for the different animation, this could've been an episode of The Animated Series, easy. Really, give this episode a shot if you've got about 20 minutes to spare.
Kevin Conroy might not be Batman, but he's the Phantom Stranger. And Mark Hamill is the Spectre, and Richard Moll is both Two-Face and Lew Moxon. Plus the Grey Ghost himself, Adam West, as Thomas Wayne, and yet another Louie the Lilac cameo (in the Tiki Club).

God damn, Emperor Joker was awesome! DB, you should really try to at least check out the two Bat-Mite episodes (Legends of the Dark Mite and Emperor Joker). They're funny shit, and Paul Reubens as Bat-Mite offers some hilarious commentary about comic fans. I nearly shat myself this time when he was looking up Ten-Eyed Man in the actual Who's Who issue from the 1980s, and later about his shrine to A Death in the Family.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!
What appeared to be a setup for an upcoming Apokolips arc!
An awesome homage to some classic Golden Age stories about Batman II and Robin II vs Son of the Joker!
The first appearance of Superman (as Clark Kent) in this universe!
The Shakespeare bust and the bat-poles!
Shout-outs to villains from the current Morrison run, Batman Beyond, and The Dark Knight Returns!
And, most importantly, the only incarnation of Damian Wayne that I will accept as canon in any universe, and the only version of the Dick/Damian team that I've ever liked.
Fuck, this is the cartoon equivalent of fucking Natalie Portman in a sea of money. I won't commit the blasphemy of saying it's better than TAS, but I do get more excited about new episodes than I did with TAS, or at least since the earliest days of that show.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
Okay, how about an anthology episode, hosted by Pee Wee Herman as Bat-Mite, featuring a Mad Magazine version of Batman, a cheesy manga version, and a crossover with Scooby Doo... and not a single Diedrich Bader voice?
Mabs, please tell me you caught this one.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
Did you see the season premiere? Did. You. See. The. Season. Premiere?
I've got to say that, aside from the badass version from Justice League, I can't stand Wonder Woman. She's silly. End of story. But that's why she worked so well here. The 70s theme music may be awful, and may have been stupid as hell opening a shitty show set in World War II, but it works so damned well when dredged up here.
I swear, this is like a 30-minute weekly love letter to everything that's made DC heroes so cool over the last 70 years.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
I thought the show was cancelled but obviously not, which is a great thing- the last episode of season 3 really confused me, it seemed like a total "fuck you for cancelling this show"
Guess I gotta take a little trip through the internets and get this episode on lockdown...

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
They're still burning through older episodes. It is canceled.
Wouldn't mind seeing some straight-to-DVD releases sometime, though.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
I still ain't gonna watch this bullshit faux-Batman, but it can't be any worse than the Clone Wars season premiere, which was embarrassingly bad.

At least B&TB doesn't take itself seriously.
You've got to give it that much credit.
Mabs, "Mitefall" should probably be airing next month or in November. For some reason, we're behind the rest of the world on this by several months. I just watched a clip of the last scene. Perfect. Absolutely fucking perfect. Right down to Music Meister on piano, and "Stage 27."

Holy cow, I must forgive Josh as he knows not whereof he speaks!!
BatB Batman is maybe the greatest depiction of Batman ever, I am not kidding. In some of the episodes they even switch around exactly which Batman he is representing in different scenes, so in many ways he is all the Batmen ever, in which case he can't be "faux"
It really is a great show, it made me and my buddy Johnny realize that we actual did like Silver Age DC, only for different reasons than and in a totally different way than things we thought were awesome at the time... I don't know as what I just typed makes much sense but it's the best way I can explain it
EDIT- Anarky- the whole episode is fucking insanely awesome, when me and Johnny watched it, we both agreed that if THAT is how it was gonna go out, then I just it was worth it, seriously it will blow your mind, the entire thing

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
Holy fuck, I didn't recognize it, but Ambush Bug is the motherfucking Fonz!!!
Until I watched the clip, I was a tad concerned how they'd voice such an iconic character.
And mabs is right, DB. You can see I was one of the biggest bashers until I let Anarky Jr watch an episode because I figured it was more kid-friendly than The Batman (at the time, the only other Batman show on the air). I'd put this up there with the DCAU Batman and the Grant/Breyfogle(/Wolfman/Aparo) era.
Seriously, "Chill of the Night" could've been a Batman: The Animated Series episode if the animation and voices were different.
