A friend and I were talking about movies and I went to wikipedia to look up something about Starship Troopers. Back in December, the guy who produced the Fast and Furious series said he was going to do a remake of Starship Troopers but planned on keeping it closer to the book. I kept reading and it said the book doesn't have very many battle scenes and the space marines are an all-male unit, so don't expect a new shower scene....well, a co-ed shower scene at least.

Mmmm...Batgirl's titties. I've had a crush on Dina Meyer since Johnny Mnemonic. And now she's getting close to Cougar status.

She's 44, so she's achieved cougar status. According to wikipedia, the character she played in the book version was a dude who died in the first chapter. Obviously, there wasn't a love triangle in the book.

The Starship Troopers book was pretty dry, but very militaristic. The movie bears little resemblance to the book.
There is a new ST something coming out real soon on video.

I'm more excited to see a Bill and Ted threequel than a Ghostbusters 3. Too bad George couldn't have stuck around for it.

What's this deal about not having written the song that saves the world yet?

Did Keanu miss the ending of Bogus Journey? We've already seen them save the fucking world. Unless they're going to Lucas the newspaper photos of them at the end of that movie and make them look a lot older, it won't make sense.

I remember years ago reading something about a sequel (before Bogus Journey actually came out) that said it would be about them sorta realizing all their historical friends were dead (I guess they knew, but it didn't really sink in), and trying to go back in time to save them all. That would make more sense as a sequel.

A new Mad Max movie? Mel Gibson isn't in it. It isn't supposed to be a remake as it takes place after Beyond Thunderdome.

They've been trying to make that for over a decade and more. I stopped listening to news about it. It's one of those films that the people attached keep bringing up so they can keep their names in the trades (I'm looking at you Harold Ramis and Dan Ackroyd and your perpetual Ghostbusters III jabber).

Disney is looking to reboot The Rocketeer also.

I say it's worth paying Zero three bucks to express my opinion on that.

Damn. Couldn't they reboot The Shadow, The Phantom, and The Spirit instead?

I mean, I'm all for someone else taking a crack at the Rocketeer, because it would mean getting another live action Rocketeer movie. (Not rebooting Rocketeer is like saying Tim Burton already made a Batman movie, so Chris Nolan should knockitnoff!!)

But there's other properties that need revamping more.

I'd fucking kill to see a Shadow, Phantom, or Spirit movie that doesn't suck. Or a Doc Savage movie at all. Or a John Carter movie that is marketed well.

Hell, why not a new Tarzan movie? It's been, what, 30 years since Greystoke, right? That's a long lull (I refuse to count the Disney abomination with Rosie O'Donell and Phil Collins music).

There was the one with Casper Van Deim (?) from Starship Troopers like 10-15years ago.

Really? Did that go straight to video or something? Or did I just miss it? Not intending to sound sarcastic; I just really don't remember it.

Nah, it was in theatres for like a week. I remember because it came out right around the time my daughter was born. I think it did abysmal Box Office.

UPDATE. ha! Yeah, it make like $2M total.

I also think somebody did a TV movie that was supposed to be a pilot for Tarzan moves to NYC.
And I always get the Chris Lambert and Bo Derek versions jumbled together.
