Store B was wrong - I got We Stand on Guard 6 to finish that set, already had Lemire X-Men 2 from store A. Not that anyone is really keeping score, I just wanted to bring up WSOG again as it's pretty cool.

Also, just got Saga book 2 for Christmas so I need to rip over & get book 1 tomorrow. I think this will be my first series I've bought in trade format as it's still being published - weird, but the times, they need to be a changin' around here.

Merry Christmas! 16 more books this week! Only one First Issue. Let's begin.

Amazing Spidey 5. The Zodiac breaks into a London museum to break the Rosetta Stone and steal some macguffin. The big bad turns out to be the chief shareholder of Parker Industries.

Ant-Man 3. Ant-Man teams up with Captain America to stop a Giganto baby from falling into terrorist hands.

New Avengers 4. The N'Avs team up with a family of Kree-Skrull hybrids to stop a dimensional wizard from a previous universe. But his essence sneaks aboard Billy Kaplan at the last moment. Cue ominous music.

Captain America 4. Sam is still Cap Wolf and he's up against the Serpent Society. There's a new Falcon.

Daredevil 2. Daredevil confronts Tenfingers when he realizes he stole the Hand's mumbojumbo.

Deadpool 4. Deadpool realizes who's trying to destroy his organization from within. It's a Jelly Madcap.

GIJoe ARAH 222. The new oversight committee is introduced to the Joes. Cobra begins its takeover.

Hellcat 1. First Issue. Patsy Walker befriends a mugger and moves in with him. Whoever this is aimed at, it's not me. Dropped.

Moon Girl and Devil Dino 2. Moon Girl and DD come to an understanding about him not eating her. Then she gets kidnapped by the other moon people.

Saga 32. Hazel's parents figure out where she's being held but they need former Prince Robot's help to rescue her.

Spider-Woman 2. Preggers Jessica is aboard an intergalactic ob/gyn that gets invaded by skrulls.

Star-Lord 2 Peter almost successfully steals Yondu's pirate ship from him and it earns him a job on the ship. Ugh. Movie Yondu.

Darth Vader 14. Leia calls in a bombing run on her location, hoping it will also take out Vader.

Transformers Holiday Special one shot. 3 short holiday related stories from the writers of the three ongoings.

Transformers MTMTE 48 Rung meets a character from his past and Skids tries to piece together the missing parts of his memories.

ExtraX-Men 4. Sinister is back. He's been experimenting on mutants with Terrigen mist to "improve" them. Except they all keep dying. Except one. Cyclops is now a mutant-inhuman hybrid. And he's not dead. (Or maybe it's a clone).

Happy New Year! Only 9 books this week. And that's thanks partly to Marvel screwing up their shipping schedule and also me getting guilt tripped into buying a damaged book. Plus, since I got a GC to my favorite LCS I paid bubkes this week. I bought boards because of this. Always needing the boards.

Amazing Spidey 6. Spidey heads to Hong Kong after Mr. Negative returns with his new henchmen Cloak & Dagger in tow. Say what now?? This new artist Buffagni has some nice art style. Reminds me of Clay Mann.

Carnage 3. FBI agents trapped in a caved in mine with both Carnage and a rampaging Man-Wolf. Marvel's attempt at a creepy horror book isn't too shabby thanks to Gerry Conway and Mike Perkins.

Deadpool & Cable:Split Second 1. The digital first series makes it to floppy as Cable shows up to stop DP from shooting a time traveling scientist working for Hydra. Nicieza writing 'Pool is like comfort food.

Howard the Duck 3. The Stranger shows up when Howard is discovered to be the new mobile Nexus of all Realities. And more Gwenpool.

Spidey 2099 5. Miguel and Cap2099 have to try and get Venture back to the future but he gets rescued by that new secret group with the acronym I've already forgotten.

Obi-Wan & Anakin 1. First Issue. Obi and Ani, in a clean slate continuity, head to a world where there's a war between Zeppelin armies. Just serves to remind readers that a serious ton of EU got bulldozed under like E.T. Atari games. Oh well, at least Checchetto's art is nice.

Transformers Sins of the Wreckers 2. The Wreckers head off to rescue Prowl from some mad scientist who's looking to blackmail him with the Aequitus.

TF vs GIJoe 10. Ugh. I didn't want to buy this because it sucks and the only copy was bent all to shit along the spine. But since my guy basically special orders one copy for me, I felt obligated to buy it. I certainly didn't read it.

All New Wolverine 3. The Wolverine/Taskmaster fight I was looking forward to was underwhelming and anticlimactic. Laura takes the three not so dead clones to Dr. Strange for help. We'll probably be seeing a lot more Dr. Strange guest stars in the coming year in every Marvel book. For no reason whatsoever.

I hate that. My Lemire X-Men 2 came beat to shit & I wanted to decline it, but I felt weird because he had ordered it for me. I wish they would send them back as damaged & not try to sell them ><

A whopping 18 books this week. 3 First Issues. I picked up Hulk and Nova at a second store because the bent corners and damaged books at store #1 is becoming rampant.

A-Force 1. First Issue. The All-Vagina Avengers. Singularity(that will never stop being a ridiculously stupid code name) from the SW mini shows up and remembers everything that happened, but Capt Marvel and none of the other team members do. Then some anti-version of her shows up, demanding she be returned to him and Medusa says hand her over to the jerk. Also, Alpha Flight is now the code name for Earth's Space Protection Agency. I guess SWORD went away? And did Canada okay having their super name co-opted? I'm giving this one more issue to shape up, otherwise dropped.

Amazing Spidey 1.2 So I'm guessing Marvel wanted to corner the Cuban-American comic readers market and created a Cubano super team called the Santerians(after the Cuban quasi sorta voodoo religion) because they take great pains explaining Santeria and also Spidey heads to Cuba and they take great deal of time explaining the geopolitical climate of the Island as well. But since a mini series called "The Santerians" would sell like unwashed ass, they slapped Spidey's name on the cover and shoehorned him into it. I am sorely tempted to not buy anymore of this dreck, completistism be damned.

Contest of Champions 4. Collector's team defeats Grandmaster's team (although Stick beats the Sentry and they totally lampshade that shit.) and Maestro wants to recruit the totally awesome White Fox character, but the Collector brings back Night Thrasher instead. Fun stuff.

Deadpool 5. Now that the villain is out in the open, DP uses his daughter as chum in a totally awesome moment to bring Madcap out of hiding for a final showdown. I love how Daniel Way's completely shitty duel captioning boxes has been turned into a fantastic arch nemesis for Wade.

Doctor Strange 4. Jason Aaron comes up with some "rules" for magic finally. Think of it like carb loading before running a Marathon.

GIJoe ARAH 223. Cobra launches it attacks around the world and Joe is there to stop them. But not without casualties.

Guardians of Infinity 2. The Guardians of three different eras whine about who are the REAL Guardians while fighting some powered up genetic alien robot thingies. For the record, the real Guardians are and always will be Vance Astro and his crew.

Hulk 2. Hulk is fighting some super powered babe who wants to take giant monsters to a planet refuge where they can live in peace. A comic called Totally Awesome and having Frank Cho art should live up to its name more.

Iron Man 6. Tony and Doom use magic and science to exorcise a demon from Madame Masque. Tony offers MJ Watson a job after he blew up her new nightclub.

Nova 3. After he realizes his dad is an impostor alien, Sam goes to Tony Stark for help. Tony sends the three rookie Avengers (Nova, Miles, and Ms Marvel) out to patrol and bond and they come across Moloids, Mole Man, and a Giganto.

Spider-Gwen 4. Harry Osborn, the Green Goblin, blames Spider-Woman for Peter Parker's death and attacks her with his Hobgoblin drones. Gwen unmasks and confesses.

Spidey/Deadpool 1. First Glorious Issue. Joe Kelly and Ed McGuiness reunite and have Spidey and Wade team up against Dormammu in the Dark Dimension. And also fight a Hydro-Man made entirely of sewage water. And as a bonus, the entire first issue of Vision is included for those who missed it. All in all, almost too much greatness in one funny book. Go buy this one.

Star Wars 14. and Darth Vader 15. The Vader Down crossover comes to a conclusion as Vader fights some fanwank mashup of Admiral Ackbar and General Grievous.

Ultimates 3. Now that they've fixed Galactus, the Ultimates set their sites on fixing time travel. But they have to do it without time traveling themselves. Which is problematic, but not impossible. This book is awesome.

The Vision 3. Vision repairs his daughter with Tony Stark's help. We flashback and discover Agatha Harkness is narrating the series from beyond the grave. Spooky, fantastic stuff.

Weirdworld 2. As Goleta's new squire, Becca just wants to get back home. But they'll need the help of the wizard Goleta killed in the first issue who is now stuck in the body of a flying cat. And Goleta's convertible is busted so they must go to the Great Mechanic to find an emerald fuel injector. Weirdworld is right.

Uncanny X-Men 1. First Issue. Magneto has recruited Sabretooth, Monet, Psylocke, and the mindless Archangel to be his X-Men. They don't like mutants getting pushed around by society and have decided to push back. Greg Land art warning! None of the three X-Men books feels like X-Men books. It's disconcerting.

Secret Wars 9. This was worth the wait. Hickman is a magnificent bastard genius. I won't spoil anything, but it's a fitting FINALE to both his Avengers AND his Fantastic Four runs. Because they were the SAME RUN. It goes back to his very very very first issue of FF before he'd even started writing FF. Back to the Dark Reign mini where Reed began his quest to "Solve Everything".
This was as powerful and emotional as FF 604. Hickman. You bastard. You genius.

Done reading it & I loved it too. I am going to purchase whatever deluxe version of this series comes out in oversized hardcover format, then I'm going to wake up early one Saturday morning, have some coffee & re-read the whole fucking thing. I LOVE where the Future Foundation was left - loved it. They are tucked away safely where Marvel (yes I was sneering when I typed Marvel there) shouldn't bother them until such a time as they see fit (and by fit I mean own the movie rights).

If I had one wish it would be that part 9 was double sized so they could have expanded on the T'Challa & Namor team-up.

Only 12 books this week as I'm starting to cull from all the new Marvel titles. Only one First Issue and one Final Issue. But that Final Issue is a doozy.

ANAD Avengers 3. The Avengers defeat the completely unmemorable new bad guy. Vision blackmails Nova.

Uncanny Avengers 4. The Avengers defeat the completely unmemorable new bad guy. Who it turns out is the grandfather of the completely unmemorable new Avenger who is an Inhuman. But Ultron/Hank Pym is back. They were fused together in a graphic novel that nobody read last year.

Captain America 5. The New Falcon, an illegal immigrant Mexican kid, saves CapWolf's life after the Serpent Society throws him out a window. I love how Nick Spencer is just pushing all the Conservative Republican buttons with this new series.

Guardians of the Galaxy 4. After debating it for half the issue, the GoGs go back to rescue Gamora and save Spartax. Hey, if Reed fixed Doom's face why didn't he fix Ben? Reed is a shitty friend.

Hawkeye 3. Lemire and Perez are trying to capture the Fraction/Aja magic in this new series and it just ain't happening.

Secret Wars 9. THE END. Reed confronts Doom in an epic conclusion to Hickman's near decade long story at Marvel. The Fantastic Four use the Molecule Man to begin recreating the Multiverse and explore it as they are creating it. A fitting send off to Marvel's First Family. Glorious.

Agents of SHIELD 1. First Issue. Mark Waid's series was a fun sandbox of mashups of all Marvel's toys. This book is missing that sense of fun.

Silk 3. After Cindy has a way too long talk with Peter about her double agent status for SHIELD, Silk and Shrike head to the Goblin Army's underground city to spy for Black Cat and then Shrike totally stabs Cindy in the back.

Thor 3. Thor has a confusing battle with a bunch of different Lokis.

Wolverine 4. Laura takes her clones to Dr. Strange for help and they accidentally release a demon from a cupboard.

All New X-Men 3. Teen Scott diffuses a tense situation between a bunch of idiot teen mutant terrorists who idolize Cyclops and a bunch of idiot racist cops who want to shoot first and not bother with the questions afterwards by giving a pretty speech about Xavier's dream.

ExX-Men 5. The X-Men defeat Sinister and his horrible Cyclops mutant-inhuman clone hybrid thingie.

That's a lot of comics. Did you like the Vader Down special? I'm interested to see if anyone else liked it as much as I did.

I have to read Guardians 4 today, but I've liked the first 3 - then again it's got Kitty - of course I like it. ><

Dropping DD is a sin, even if it's not your favourite right now. Better get yo ass to church & confess that shit.

Star Wars Vol. 1: Good. Not as good as people have been saying, but good. Han and Leia are pretty much in character, though Aaron might be pushing the romance angle a bit early if they're going to do this exact shit for three years. Vader is threatening, but his voice is off, and he seems a bit slow on the uptake ("I'll take your lightsaber and use it for several minutes before recognizing it, and not immediately know this would've been the only saber Obi-Wan could've possibly have given you"). Boba Fett does more here than in most of the old EU combined. Luke is sort of all over the place, sometimes dead on, sometimes leaving me wondering who the guy with blonde hair who looks like Luke is and when the real Luke got replaced off-panel.

I'm not sure why Luke would have to be blinded for a fight with Boba Fett unless the Holiday Special is still considered canon.

Han driving an AT-AT was total fanwank, as was Vader slicing its legs off.

Not sure what to make of Han's wife; I guess I'll see in the next volume if she's some delusional nitwit who gets offed or it was some sort of "marry my daughter now or I'll kill you" thing before I pass judgment.

A couple of minor changes from the old canon I noticed: the Empire is manufacturing what look like updated versions of the old Trade Federation tanks, and other Rodians seem to actually give a shit about Greedo.

I did like Vader Down. I'm liking the Star Wars books overall. The only problems I have are the post-ANH timeline already being fucked up by the main SW series and Leia/Chewie minis taking place at the same times. And I don't like Dr Aphra's murder droids. Aphra herself is an interesting lackey for Vader though.

Guardians feels off now because of the Secret Wars time jump bullshit.

This new DD series is flat with the stupid, pointless apprentice and a bad guy with 10 fingers on each hand. Ooh, that's scary.

The change in DD is almost shocking. Totally different book. It hasn't been gritty crime since before Mark Waid. I'm giving it time for a few reasons - mainly because I always buy DD, but also The Hand showing up on the last page of issue 2.

The SW character minis are just casual reading for me, I honestly couldn't tell you right now where any of them fall in terms of the movie timeline (obviously the intro to Poe's parents one is different). I just finished Chewie - more & more I'm thinking these really haven't been worth the money (Leia, Lando, Chewie) - they're all just throwaway stuff. I think there is supposed to be a C3PO one shot coming out that will address the red arm, which of course is about as exciting as my next trip to the washroom.

DKIII #2 deluxe edition - the main part was good again, haven't read the WW part yet

Uncanny 2
Uncanny (Inhumans) 4
SW 15 regular & Snaggletooth variant
Surfer 1 (Yay!)
Astro City 31

And Ultimates 1 on a flyer as it was the only copy left in stock for that entire series so far.

Still missing Iron Man 5.
