Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Found some Marvel Essentials at Goodwill yesterday for $1.99 each. Needless to say I picked them up.
Fantastic Four Vol. 3: FF #41-63 and FF Annuals #3-4
Hulk Vol. 3: Incredible Hulk #118-142, Captain Marvel #20-21, and Avengers #88
Iron Man Vol. 3: IM #12-38 and Daredevil #73
Silver Surfer Vol. 1: SSv1 #1-18
Werewolf by Night Vol. 2: WBN #22-43, Giant Size WBN #2-5, and Marvel Premiere #28
Some very good stuff in there. I missed a cheap B&W reading copy of the first Wolverine, but got the first Galactus and Silver Surfer. I initially was only going to pick up just Surfer, since it's the only Vol. 1, but then remembered most of these are probably stand-alones, and I know the rough history of all the titles anyway.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
A whopping 20 books this week. We are in that weird transition phase where SW! Is winding down but all the post-SW books are starting up. Only 4 SW issues this week, including the main title. 8 First Issues. And everything was expensive af.
Amazing Spidey 1. First Issue! Peter is now a global industrialist with branches in Europe and Hong Kong. Hobie Brown is his fake bodyguard Spider-Man. And Doc Ock is sorta back. Also had several previews in the back of other Spidey books like Silk and Spidey 2099.
Atomic Robo: Ring of Fire 2. Robo's science team are on the run trying to rebuild his body and kaiju are attacking.
Avengers 0. Sort of a Point One issue that's only previewing Avengers books. Includes A-Force, Uncanny, Ultimates, Squadron Supreme and New Avengers.
Batman & Robin Eternal 1. I hardly ever buy DC. This is the new weekly comic. It's jumping between the present and the past when Dick was still Robin. The last page pissed me off so much I remembered why I don't buy DC anymore.
Contest of Champions 1. First Issue. The comic based on the popular app game which is based on the original comic series. I like Al Ewinf and he threw some obscure d-list characters (remember Outlaw the British Punisher?) in with some interesting new character like Guillotine and White Fox. I just think it's funny this book only exists because of a video game.
Doctor Strange 1. First Issue. Jason Aaron and Chris Bachalo get back to the core essence of the Sorceror Supreme. Decent start.
Invincible Iron Man 1. First Issue with it's fancy card stock cover. Bendis takes over writing. A cure for mutants is casually discovered and Dr. Doom's uncovered handsome face is casually shown on the last page.
Marvel Point One. What DB said. Previews Contest of Champions, Carnage, Daredevil, Inhumans, Rocket & Groot, and Agents of SHIELD.
Old Man Logan 5. SW! After Secret Wars concludes, Logan wakes up naked in Manhattan in the post-SW All New All Different Marvel U.
Paper Girls 1. What DB said. I rarely buy new Image books but this one was BKV and I love Saga. And I needed to round up to 20.
Secret Wars 6. What DB said. Except I love this series.
Siege 4. SW! Thanos convinces Ben Grimm that Doom is the real threat and he leaves his post on the wall. Since he WAS the wall, the zombie robot hordes overrun everything. The End.
Spider Island 5. SW! Flash sacrifices himself an Venom to defeat the Spider Queen and everyone else lives happily ever after.
Star Wars 10., Darth Vader 10, Lando 5., and Shattered Empire 2. All the Star Wars books came out in the same week. What DB said.
Transformers vs GIJoe 9. I'm pretty sure I haven't read this is like 4-5 months now.
What If: Infinity: Inhumans 1. Alternate outcomes to Infinity event from a couple years ago. Last year? Anyway, Thanos convinces Blackbolt to kill the Avengers in order to save Earth. The other Inhumans find out.
What If: Infinity: Thanos 1. Instead of invading Earth, Thanos joined the Avengers and the galactic coalition in fighting the Builders. He secretly kills Capt America, takes his shield and leadership of the Avengers, then comes home and joins the Illuminati.
Whew! That was a lot of reading this week!

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Avengers 0 had a couple great set ups.
New Avengers is Bobby Dacosta's team that bought out A.I.M. And rebranded it Avengers Idea Mechanics. All the disreputable AIM guys jumped ship and formed W.H.I.S.P.E.R. which is led by...The Maker. The Evil Reed Richards from the Ultimate Universe.
And Uncanny Avengers preview was mostly a Deadpool story where he's doing freebie missions for an elderly Steve Rogers because he likes and respects him so much. On the last page, Steve gives Wade his official Avengers ID card. It's gonna be awesome.
I am going to go so broke keeping up with all these new Marvel books.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
In the present, all the Robins team up against a mysterious new big bad called Mother who is targeting all of Batman's protégés. Starting with Bluebird.
Dick finds a flash drive with a confession from Bruce that Dick has to clean up a mess Bruce made when they still partners.
Then it flashes back to the past and shows that a child's parents were shot and killed by a mysterious assailant (mirroring Bruce's own situation) and on the last page the murderer is revealed.
It's Batman in full on costume with a smoking gun.

That FF volume alone is worth the total of what you paid. 1st Inhumans, SIlver Surfer & Galactus and I believe Black Panther - plus you can color in the fucking pictures on your own if you feel so inclined. Essentials are awesome.anarky wrote:Found some Marvel Essentials at Goodwill yesterday for $1.99 each. Needless to say I picked them up.

I actually had to look up who Bluebird is. I have and I've read the issues she's in...and I have no memory of Harper taking up a superhero identity. I didn't read batman Eternal, but it just hows how much I've been paying attention.Tom Foolery wrote:In the present, all the Robins team up against a mysterious new big bad called Mother who is targeting all of Batman's protégés. Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
12 (well 13) books this week. As SW winds down so there's only 2 of those this week. 1 Final Issue and 6 First Issues as the All New All Different Marvel juggernaut continues to roll out books.
A-Force 5. SW! The zombie hordes break thru the wall and A-Force assembles. Singularity(what a stupid name) sacrifices herself to destroy all the zombies and save everyone.
New Avengers 1.First Issue. Bobby's new team fights diamond headed zombies in Paris and Bobby has to deal with SHIELD interference back on Avengers(formerly AIM) Island.
Uncanny Avengers 1. First Issue. The Unity Squad is now composed of Avengers, Mutants, and Inhumans. Spidey quits the team because Deadpool is on it. We discover that most mutants are in hiding because the Inhuman Terrigen Mist is affecting them. Rogue must take an antidote every day to counter it's effects.
Civil War 5. SW! Tony and Steve detonate a de powering bomb to destroy the Skrulls and sacrifice themselves in the process. War over.
GIJoe: Cobra World Order Oneshot. Under the guise of a senate oversight fact finding mission, a senator and her side are treated to exposition from the Joe team explaining who they are, their bases, team members, allies, and enemies. This issue is basically a primer and summary for new readers. Well done though.
Guardians of the Galaxy 1. First Issue. Ben Grimm joins the team and Kitty Pryde is the new StarLord. The GoGs find a macguffin aboard a Chitauri spaceship and take it back to Spartax so their new King Peter Quill can help them safely open it.
Ms Marvel 19. Final Issue. Last Days tie in. Kamala resolves all her family drama and talks with her not-boyfriend as the incursion happens. This issue is about six months too late.
Spider Gwen 1. First Issue. Gwen is back. Still an alternate timeline. Thank god they didn't try to wedge her in the 616 alongside everyone else.
Spidey 2099. First Issue. Miguel has hung up his superhero costume and is working for Peter Parker running his NYC branch. Until someone blows up him and his pregnant gf killing her.
Star Wars Shattered Empire 3. Three Royal chicks stop the Empire from destroying Naboo in old N-1 fighters.
Chewbacca 1. Chewie is helping some girl rescue her dad from slave mines. Boring and drawn out. This might be the first SW series I don't bother finishing.
What If: Infinity: X-Men 1. Years after the Builder war and decimation of Earth, Cannonball leads a ragtag team of surviving mutants in space. They come across a team of surviving Avengers and they end up fighting because mind control. In the end they join together as the X-Men.
I also went to a store in a town a couple hours away and bought some bargain back issues, but also picked up
Assassin's Creed 1. The new first issue from Titan Publishing. A young woman joins the Guild and gets put into her ancestor's head during the Salem Witch Trials.
A-Force 5. SW! The zombie hordes break thru the wall and A-Force assembles. Singularity(what a stupid name) sacrifices herself to destroy all the zombies and save everyone.

Sold out of Cap White 2 (&3 if it came out as per Marvel's website) & Shattered Empire 3 so I'll have to track those down. Le sigh.

I skipped Capt America White
and Sam Wilson:Capt America this week.
I might pick them up later, but my dollar only stretches so far. Marvel is cannibalizing their own sales releasing all these books at once.

Yeah, it's bad. I have 7 #1's or 0's so far, haven't read any yet, and I don't have a long term view of following many/most/all the series. I just don't want to have to go back & find them later. Not fun.
