Secret Wars 2 (mine has a "normal" cover compared to last week's snazzy matte/shiny textured deluxe one - is this right or did I choose a different one both weeks without knowing 2 were available?)
Vader 5
ASM 17 (my main store ordered me a copy and it actually came in - this is unprecedented)
Astro City 23
Snake Eyes Cobra 5
EDITED: Secret Wars 2 is about as crazy as reading 1604 - but it was captivating, I can't lie. I'm liking it through 2 issues.

I think it was just the first issue that was all fancy.
And yeah the first two issues were spectacular.
Hickman's work thru FF and Avengers for the last six years are paying off HUGE.

Hickman FF/Shield/Avengers/Secret Wars Omnibus coming, you know that's a fact.
Oh, and the end of the original Secret Wars has been standing out in my mind lately - I won't spoil anything but it was pretty easy to reset the whole status quo the first time. Just a thought.

Arkham Asylum. Never owned it, never even read it in its entirety. Someone local is donating good Batman comics to Goodwill.
More Than Meets the Eye Vol. 7. So, Roberts was jealous that Barber had written one of the best time travel stories ever, and had to utterly destroy him? Shitballs, this comic rules! (But RIP to you-know-who.)

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
12 books this week. The turmoil of Secret Wars begins in earnest and I left several First Issues on the racks, including Planet Hulk and Spider-Verse. Mostly because of the $4.99 price tag. Other books end or are close to it.
Avengers World 21. FINAL ISSUE. Before Time Runs Out catches up to Time Runs Out as Namor breaks ties with the Cabal and Bobby recruits Odinson for his Avengers team. To read what happens next, go back 8 months and read Hickman's books from last October.
A-Force 1. First Issue. Of the many Secret Wars worlds, one is protected and ruled by all the female heroes of the world. She Hulk's in charge. America Chavez throws a giant shark over a wall and gets banished by Doom for it.
Battleworld 1. First Issue. Stories that fall thru the cracks and don't deserve their own series. Like a Punisher possessed by Dr. Stranges ghost fighting demon infused Hulk, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, and Spidey. And a story about multitudes of MODOKs not getting along.
Daredevil 15.1 Matt and Foggy are writing Matt's autobiography and it's a couple flashback stories early in his career.
Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars 1. Deadpool is inserted into the original 1984 Secret Wars to mildly hilarious effect.
Deathlok 8. Henry gets full control of his Deathlok body and kills the other Deathlok they send after him.
Guardians of the Galaxy 27. Final Issue. Peter Quill decides whether he wants to be president of Spartax, a living planet comes to kill Gamora because she's Thanos' daughter. But she's suped up because of Black Vortex and makes short work of the bad guy and his invading chitauri army. So the chitauri are now just a thing because writers saw Avengers movies and don't know the full history of the actual Marvel U? I'd blame the editors but they're also probably getting their info from only watching the films. Sigh
Loki 14. Last Days tie in. So the end of the Universe is also the end of the gods of Asgard. And they're not going quietly. Evil old future Loki goes to Hel, beheads Balder and unleashes the Jormungandr serpent. The Asgardians break out chain guns and shit. Odin with a mini gun is equal parts stupid and yet completely awesome. I love Al Ewing.
Star Wars 5. Boba Fett hunts for Luke.
Transformers RID 41. Combiner Wars continues. Waiting to read it.
Ultimate End 1. The end of the Ultimate Universe. The 616 and Ultimate heroes are all in Manhattan trying to figure how to "fix" the Battleword/Secret Wars fiasco.
Uncanny X-Men 34. Dazzler tracks down Mystique who had imprisoned and impersonated her for months and ties up that storyline.
Avengers World 21. FINAL ISSUE. Before Time Runs Out catches up to Time Runs Out as Namor breaks ties with the Cabal and Bobby recruits Odinson for his Avengers team. To read what happens next, go back 8 months and read Hickman's books from last October.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Finally got around to reading my last few weeks. My main comments on those that haven't been commented on yet.
Darth Vader #5 - Vader hunts down his competition with his new allies and army. Palpatine stops Vader before he has a chance to destroy them.
Kanan: The Last Padawan #2 - Kanan/Caleb escapes Order 66 while Depa Bilaba is killed.
Secret Wars #2 - Missed #1 and waiting for the reorder. I should've picked it up at Motor City Comic Con.
Daredevil #15.1 (Why the .1?)
Guardians of the Galaxy #27 (another misleading cover. And was Captain Marvel ever really on the team?))
The Punisher #18 (Ugh.)
Star Wars #5 (Cassaday gets worse every month)
Uncanny X-Men #34 (Next issue: #600 late this summer)

I think there's an Uncanny 35 before 600.
It seems to me that releasing Uncanny 600 until after all the Secret Wars mumbo jumbo makes the story extremely irrelevant.

I'm not sold on the ".1's" too easy to miss one & not realize your run isn't complete.

It feels like a ploy to get us to buy a mini-series, just numbered so it's part of the regular series. Gorram completest compulsions...jjreason wrote:I'm not sold on the ".1's" too easy to miss one & not realize your run isn't complete.

I much preferred the old "now on sale bi-weekly!" you'd get with ASM & X-Men during the summer months. I don't imagine too many folks would be crying if they got DD 15 & 16 3 weeks apart - but maybe they're trying to help with the reading continuity. Either way, it's bad.

They also used to have an Annual every year. Now they have 1 Annual and 1 Special for a lot of books. Then the book gets relaunched and they have a new Annual and a new Special.
Every Annual has a "1" on it.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
12 books this week. A couple books ended, and a half dozen Secret Wars issues. Only because my non-SW pull was ridiculously small this week.
Uncanny Avengers: Ultron Forever 1. The final chapter of Ultron Forever. The "Doom" is revealed to be the Doombot from Avengers AI and Vision talks him into being a good guy. Meh.
Black Widow 18. The villain of the secret society they've been building up for like 10 issues is dispatched in about four pages and the. Natasha spends the rest of the issue navel gazing. Fucking awful shit.
Hawkeye 3. Clint and Kate break the creepy kids out of SHIELD custody. Also, Helicarrier is spelled wrong repeatedly during the issue.
Inferno 1. SW! World where N'Astihr won and Illyana is enslaved. Piotr gets one day every year where he's allowed to attempt to rescue her. Every year he fails. Last year he got Cyclops cripples so he's in wheelchair. Why would you attack on the exact same date every year? That's telegraphing your attack to the enemy. Stupid. And the art was weak.
Infinity Gauntlet 1. SW! A family survives on the wreckage of an alien bug invasion that their mother, a Nova corpsman, failed to stop. Them she returns and one of the kids finds an Infinity Stone. Mostly new characters and premise made this an interesting read.
Iron Fist 12. Final Issue. I only glanced thru it but it looks like they threw a dumb plot twist in at the end for no reason.
Nova 31. Final Issue. Sam saves the Earth and rescues his missing dad for a happy homecoming.
Old Man Logan 1. SW! Picking up where the original story left off. Logan is trying to make the world better. He finds an Ultron head and climbs the wall looking for answers. Pretty good start.
Secret Wars Journal 1. SW! Two short stories. One of the Young Avengers as Robin Hood type thieves in 1602. And the other set in Egypt(?) where Konshu turns the X-Men into werewolves or something.
Secret Wars 2099 1. SW! Miguel is now head of Alchemax and has a team of Avengers on the payroll.
Transformers MTME 41. Haven't read it yet.
Where Monsters Dwell 1. SW! WWI Ace pilot Phantom Eagle gives a damsel a ride in his plane and they crash in the Savage Land. Garth Ennis doing whatever he'd like for SW is a lot of fun.
Uncanny Avengers: Ultron Forever 1. The final chapter of Ultron Forever. The "Doom" is revealed to be the Doombot from Avengers AI and Vision talks him into being a good guy. Meh.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
I bought comics. They were (are?) as follows:
Uncanny 34
Uncanny Avengers Ultron Forever 1
Thanos v Hulk 4
SW 5 (regular & C3PO figure variant)
Iron Fist 12
(SW) Inhumans 1
GotG 27
DD 15.1
AvWorld 21
(SW) Infinity Gauntlet 1
GI Joe ARAH 212,213
Still missing Nova 28 & had to place an order for GI Joe #8. Might hit shop 2 and hedge my bets, still haven't done that yet.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Found GI Joe #8 and man, it barely limped to the finish line. I guess all that's out there now is ARAH, so I grabbed the 2 Death of Snake Eyes issues to get reading. Haven't been following it.
Secret Wars observation - I haven't seen a #2 of any of the series solicited - are these snapshot single issues like they did back in Marvel vs DC2, to give the illusion of an ongoing series but not really planning on doing any more than the one issue?

All-New Hawkeye #3 - Covered.
S.H.I.E.L.D. #6 - When the heavy hitters start becoming Mindless Ones, Coulson takes the fight to Dormammu.
Secret Wars #1 & #2 and The Infinity Gauntlet #1 - What the ever loving fuck? I have no idea what the fucking fuck is happening here. It makes no Goddamned sense. Fuck you, Marvel. You just DC'ed yourself.
