Punisher War Journal #5 - Pretty much what EP said. Stop ruining The Punisher! I'm begging to wonder if the only reason they brought Frank back to the Marvel U was for the Captain Punisher carp.
Wolverine Origins #12 - His name is Daken? Good lord. As good as this series has been, this whole son thing has brought it to a screeching halt.
Spider-Man Reign #4 - I was hoping for one good, final, knock down, drag out with Venom, not a shit load of symbiotes, but it was still good, despite being a Dark Knight clone to the end (right down to the hero's "death").
I wonder what Frank Miller thought of this?

Oh yeah, I forgot about Wolverine:Origins. I admire them for breaking new ground by saying: Wolverine has been "Mysterious" for three decades, so lets go the totally opposite route and demystify EVERYTHING, because yeah, it's making a hell of a good long story if its done right. That aside, the son of Wolverine is Uber Gay. It's a piss poor cliche idea and the design of him is just..well, it's pitiful. And when you read New X-Men right before or right after it and realize that Logan has a clone/daughter figure too, it's starting to look a little Wisconsin over there at Marvel. What comes next, a woman Wolverine? Some jackass will bring that evil Woverine descendant from Guardians of the Galaxy back in time. Stupid douches.

Okay, here's what I read last week ( I thought I already posted this)
Flash. I'm just not getting a "Fresh New Flash" vibe from this series. They went through this big todo of starting the series over AGAIN because Bart is in the costume now. But there's no new angle. The writers that pitched this startover are already off the book. Guggenheim is an okay writer, but I just dont feel excited picking this up every month.
JSA. Conclusion to the first arc. Vandal Savage is such a dumbass villain. DC really has some stinkers. But Geoff Johns is as good as any writer out there, and Dale Eaglesham is a consistently good artist. Not flashy like Lee or Benes, but solid storytelling.
Amazing Spidey. Back In Black "officially" begins. Kinda cool seeing Peter as a badass, but it just doesn't really fit his whole persona. This whole thing reeks of movie bouncing.
Exiles. I think I'll stick it out until #100 ( they're on 94) but Claremont is now poison to comics. Dick.
Baracuda. Hotdamn this is funny hardcore shit. Reading this Diabolical?
Ultimate Power. The Ultimates stuff is great, especially the conversation between Thor, Spidey, Nick Fury, etc. But the Supreme side is such a downer. Ugh. And the story really isn't moving forward.
X-Men. Now, being a week later, I can't even recall what the story was about. What does that tell you about the Mutie books as of late?

I'm really not going to miss Wolverine, X-Men, or (very sadly) Wolverine Origins too much if they keep on like this. Astonishing I'm keeping only until Whedon is done, then I'm dropping it.
I'm planning on keeping Amazing, but FN and Sensational are gone after Back in Black.
FF is gone ASAP, as is Cap. Hulk I'm not sure about yet. Daredevil makes the cut, and will stay in my pile. New Avengers, after that HORRIBLE issue by Lenil Yu, is likely going to go - but I'll hold Mighty at least until issue 4 (and possibly longer if they keep Frank Cho).
Of my non-Marvel books, I'm only keeping Astro City(turfing All-Star Superman, The Authority, and Midnighter). It only comes out once a year anyhow.

Shame about All Star Supes. Thats a damn fine book and it comes out only every three or ten months anyway. Plus it's only going to issue 12 yeah?
Same with Captain America. All this lead up and NOW your dropping it?
I agree with FF, though.

Oh, I'll still buy other stuff - I'm just talking about my "save" pile. All Star supes comes so infrequently, it's like Astro City. You've convinced me to keep it!
Cap I'll keep buying until they resolve whatever it is they've started. Whether that's 2 or 3 or 6 issues, I'll get what I can.

Hell yeah. Awesome and hilarious. Laughed my ass off when Barracuda was trying to get Oswald to fuck the flight attendant. And as soon as I saw Leopoldo's wife (and before they said what she did for a living) I knew we'd see her titties.Eternal Padawan wrote:Baracuda. Hotdamn this is funny hardcore shit. Besides that I picked up X23: Target X #4 - Not too bad, but they're doing a whole Special Edition thing by throwing characters into scenes (via flashback) from the first mini that weren't there.

Yesterday's reading material.
52. Seemed unhinged from the proceeding issues thus far, trying to get the Big Three back into the loop. Especially the Diana part.
Batman. Pitiful Bruce Wayne, Billionaire issue. Was that Bane at the end? I couldn't tell. Hope Morrison is going somewhere with this, cause this issue was weak.
Black Panther. Well, I'm done with this one. it was an interesting Civil War run, but I'm cutting back and I can get my BP/Storm fix over in FF.
Daredevil. Haven't read it yet.
Fantastic Four. Ties into the Beyond Mini series from last year, with lots of cosmic goodness and a trip to the Watcher and a cameo by the Silver Surfer and also the artist formerly known as Deathlok, Michael Collins who is human again. What happened there? Pretty good read actually. I'm down for next issue.
Sensational Spidey. Weak. Back in Black is this year's The Other.
Silent War. Wow. An amazing issue with Quicksilver and X-Factor. The Time Travel quirk really plays out well at the end. Layla's a little bitch.
Ulitmate Spidey. Didn't read it yet.
Transformers. Only got halfway thru it, but Megatron kicked Optimus' metal ashtray. And I flipped to the end of the book and it looks like Shockwave and the Dinobots are back! Hurrah!
