Betting is cheating. Jesus said so. Jesus doesn't like Pete Rose.
(A'ight, I realized as soon as I posted it that it wasn't technically correct. I figured more than a minute before someone called me on it, though.)

I only trespassed once, and the guy on the porch with a shotgun was enough to get me the hell off his lawn.

Gordie Howe will lick an asshole for $149.99+tax. That guy is always trying to make a buck. Personally, he's lost a lot of respect. Mr. Hockey blah blah blah... The guy has turned into a fucking schill.

It's kind of sad when the old-timers (from any sport - Willie Mays pulls the same stuff) have to stoop to this. They weren't comped fairly AT ALL back in the day, and now are stuck with this lifestyle even though the owners rode them like fucking donkeys all the way to riches.

Holy carp! Did you see Filppula's goal?
I was thinking that Detroit would win in 6 or 7 games, but they've been dominating so far.

Gotta wonder if the Pens are gonna show up for game 3.
I find it hilarious how Vs. is still up MAF's ass.
Did you hear the announcers say he "kept the Pens in game 1 until he didn't." John Madden would be proud.

Re: Winter Classic - Sabres vs. Penguins
That goal was definitely some sweet shit.
I loved how they were saying that Fleury was keeping Pitt in the game. If he hadn't given up 3 goals (all of which he fucking touched before they went in) then he wouldn't have had to keep 'em in the game and he may have had to preserve a victory.
Although he's facing few shots Ozzie is looking phenominal and if he keeps it up is the MVP of the playoffs.

Sweet berry wine!

He's a shoo-in for Conn Smythe.Slicker wrote: Although he's facing few shots Ozzie is looking phenominal and if he keeps it up is the MVP of the playoffs.
MAF is a good goalie, but I have to agree that things are getting Madden-esque. Thank goodness that VS. is done with their coverage (or, at least, NBC is an option). My CBC feed was all screwy last night so I had to endure those VS. hacks for three hours and I was damn near NOT a hockey fan by 11:00 last night. Oh, and does anyone else have a hankerin' for some dockers right now?
Bottom line: Wings need a split at Mellon and they need to dress Aaron Downey for game 3 so Detroit will have someone other than Nik Kronwall to swing back with.

Suck it, Newsbot.
I think they are going to look at player equipment as well, mostly shoulder and elbow pads. There is a fine line between protecting yourself and using those things as a weapon. (See Pronger's hit in the playoffs last year).NHL hopes to make goalie equipment changes

Updated: 05/25/08 6:47 AM
DETROIT — The NHL plans to take a “good look” at the issue of goaltenders’ equipment during the offseason, league commissioner Gary Bettman said Saturday.
Bettman, speaking ahead of Game One of the Stanley Cup finals, said he hopes changes can be made, but the issue first must make its way through a committee process.
“All goaltenders should be on equal footing,” he said, noting scoring is down, goalies are bigger both physically and with the equipment they wear, and he wants more room for skaters to shoot on net.
Bettman’s comments came several weeks after it was announced the NHL and its players’ union had formed a group to examine the size and configuration of goalie equipment. They will meet June 11 in Toronto.
The idea to have a group examine the issue came about at the general managers’ meetings in Naples, Fla., in February, where there was unanimous consent to do something about the size of the equipment.
If the group decides changes to the rules governing goaltenders’ equipment are warranted, its recommendations will be forwarded to the league’s competition committee for consideration.
“This is going to be the best attempt that can be made to deal with goaltender equipment,” Bettman said.
Bettman also said every team in the league will play all the others at least once next season. That means Cup finalists Pittsburgh and Detroit will play during the 2008-09 regular season, something that did not happen this season.
Bettman also used his annual pre-Cup news conference to wade into the controversy over the Red Wings hosting Game One the same night the Detroit Pistons were playing the Boston Celtics at home in Game Three of the NBA’s Eastern Conference finals.
Criticism of the NHL in the matter has been “unrealistic and unfair,” Bettman said, citing the NBA’s admission that it decides on its conference final schedule far in advance.
“Guess what? They’re not the only ones who have to lock things in,” he said.
No city until now has hosted a Stanley Cup finals game and an NBA conference finals game on the same day, according to STATS LLC.
NBA spokesman Tim Frank this past week called the scheduling conflict “unbelievably unusual” but said the Eastern Conference finals dates are locked in for nearly a year, taking into consideration TV needs and arena availability.
“It’s set up so far in advance,” he said. “There’s not any flexibility.”
Bettman said he expects the league to again kick off its regular- season schedule in Europe with games in Stockholm, Sweden, and Prague, Czech Republic. And an announcement will be forthcoming on the participants and venue for the second Winter Classic outdoor game, he said.
The Penguins and Sabres played a game in snowy Buffalo on New Year’s Day that proved to be a ratings success. Sites rumored to be considered to host the game include New York’s Yankee Stadium and Beaver Stadium at Penn State (for a Penguins-Flyers game).

This shit comes up every off season. In honor of Herr Bettman, I made this.

Great game for the Wings, despite the numerous turnovers.
And I'm calling shenanigans on the officiating. Pens down 2-1 in the third and, big fucking surprise, they get a 5-on-3. Luckily they didn't score on that bullshit.
