Stormtrooper (Episode IV) – please note that both Stormtrooper and Sandtrooper are listed here. Since Hasbro has stated that The Black Series would consist of new tooling (save for the cancelled Legacy Collection 2 carry-forwards), this could be an all-new definitive sculpt finally!
LOL at the word "definitive" with a non-ironic exclamation point after it. Especially after 15 or so sculpts already.

That's the thing that bugs me. They should be able to do definitive sculpts of so many of these basic figures they keep resculpting, but they always make one improvement and jack up everything else. With the prices constantly rising, I'm done playing the game. We all know there will be something about this Stormtrooper that sucks.

They do it deliberately. So that everyone will buy the next "improved" sculpt that will also get labeled "definitive". And so on and so forth.

Yup, which is why I'm done with their shenanigans.
Oh, and the newest rumor list has GREEDO on it. The fucker's had more figures than seconds of screen time.

What are the chances of the second wave even showing up? That first wave plus that other POTF2-esque line are going to clog up the shelf space.
Another Greedo? Does he get one figure per line? He better come with a detachable head and large glass jar to re-create his funeral.

Aren't all the heads detachable nowadays? I thought they went to the ball socket style heads a few years back. Now you just need to get one of those tiny prizes out of a gumball machine and use the container it comes in.

Ran wrote:And why they are making yet another Battle Droid is beyond me. There are still a ton of them on the pegs here (along with the rest of the TPM wave).
It's a maroon AOTC repaint of the tan TPM version. It was announced last summer and then presumed dead when the build-a-droid line was cancelled. I love the Vintage TPM Battle Droid so I'll get several of these.
Ran wrote:I had to look up the image for those. The Biker Scout is kind of cool, but I don't need another one. The rest I could live without. Why does Hasbro give so much attention to Biggs? He seems to have a lot of figures considering how much of a presence he had in ANH.
The Biker Scout is a repack of the version recently available in the TRU Speeder Bike set, with enhanced articulation so he can properly sit on the bike. Biggs is getting another figure partly to bring him into the super-articulated style (as he's one of the few pilots to not yet have the SA treatment) and partly because his X-wing is coming out this year as a Vintage-boxed exclusive (I believe TRU, or maybe Amazon, since the reporting was spotty on these).
Diabolical wrote:Those are new figures? I can't tell anymore. They all look the same.
As far as I can tell, by looking at the store, they haven't made a new figure in 3 years.
Why does Vader have a giant flower in his extra hand?
The only never-before-made figure that's been announced for this year is the ROTS seeker droid that is barely visible in the background when Obi-Wan swims out of the Utapau sinkhole. If the rumor list is true, then there will be a few more new ones, but otherwise it's resculpt/retool city.
Vader is a Bespin trap version. They first tried to release such a version in 1998 in the aborted, oh-so-1990s-figure-with-CD-ROM line, but this is the first time they've actually done such a version. The rest of the figure is a repack of the 2005 Evolutions figure they've retooled and repacked a thousand times.

Greedo is rumored for the 6" line, not the 3 3/4" line.

That's a little better.
But only a little. The guy's scene may be iconic, but it's short, and he's probably the boringest alien design in the movies (and, yes, I am considering that the prequels had George Lucas with blue makeup and CG antennae on Mouse from The Matrix).

Oh, come on now. He's not that bad. Greedo wasn't even the worst alien in the Cantina scene. That honor goes to the Werewolf that got deleted in the updated film.

Greedo's a total generic 50's alien. I love him, and the design has its charm. But fifty fucking figures worth of charm? Hell no.

This is far more awesome than anything from The Black Series (AKA Paula Deen's Favorite).

Probably old news for you guys, but RS has pictures of the Imperial Scanning crew sets and the Ewok Catapult set. Not bad. As one commenter said, it is shocking that there are two Imperial sets and neither of them come with Vader.
Isn't Comic-con coming up? If so, any word if Hasbro is going to show new stuff for Star Wars or GI Joe?

Comic Con is this upcoming Thursday through Sunday. Hasbro hasn't announced anything (at least for SW), but they will undoubtedly be showing new items. Then again, Celebration Europe is coming the week after, so who knows what they will hold back or not. Hopefully we will see some new 3 3/4" figures, though it seems that the second wave will be more figures that were planned for Droid Factory.

They always show new stuff at Comic-Con. Besides ToyFair, it's like the big showcase (public ones anyway) for toys.
