Just finished the second season. Sadly there's only 13 more episodes to watch. Until I watch them again.
The attention to ongoing subplots threaded throughout the entire series is outstandingly funny. I'm not sure I would have even picked up on them if I hadn't been marathoning through them.

I think it was third season, which is why I waited to mention it, but have you seen the episode where Michael Sr orders a jetpack so he can escape custody, and George Michael is trying it out, and, for some reason, Gob is dressed as a dinosaur, and they wind up fighting in the miniature city while Michael is showing it to some Japanese investors and trying to pass it off as being in the distance?
That may be the hardest I laughed at a TV show in the last decade.

Re: Arrested Development: The funniest show on TV!
Prepare to be shocked, but I hate this show.
After all the critical hubub I gave it a shot while it was on the air. I watched it for 3 or 4 weeks and was pretty disappointed. I found it a little humorous but I didn't really think it was all that funny. I think I may have expected too much. And all the fanwank over the years has only fed into that disappointment.
I might have a different opinion now, but I'm certainly not going to go out of my way to find out. If it were streaming on Netflix or I could DVR repeats from the beginning I might try it.
I didn't read the stories, but is this a 100% guaranteed done deal? We get a rumor like this a couple of times every year, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Re: Arrested Development: The funniest show on TV!
I had started watching this show twice previously and didn't get past the first six episodes or so. I thought it was okay, but didn't really see what all the hype was about.
I recently started again thanks to all the hubbub surrounding its revival and am currently halfway through the second season and can't stop for the life of me. It's absolutely fucking hilarious, and often has a ton of callbacks and little references for people who pay attention closely or watch it multiple times. It is too bad that lots of diehard fans of the show don't do anything but endlessly quote the jokes out of context, making it seem like it's just about the catchphrases or something, when the writing, plotting, and acting are all great.
Diabolical, I think it would really help to watch from the beginning. If you can filter out the hype and watch it on its own terms, I think most people would at least find it pretty enjoyable.

I actually did add it to my queue last night, intending to give it another shot.

Everytime I hear "Afternoon Delight" I start pissing myself with laughter because of the awkward karaoke scene. That's TOP Five funniest moments on TV ever.

The hubbub actually got me to watch it. I heard 3 interviews with Jeffery Tambor last week. I also noticed IFC has been playing it a lot, so I took it as a sign.Senor JabbaJohnL wrote:I had started watching this show twice previously and didn't get past the first six episodes or so.
