Go to Toys R Us. You might need to check the clearance section.

they're a couple years old at this point, so i doubt they'd be available. also, there's the situation that toys come from asia, to america via california - you get things first, NY gets things last, and not much of it, and it sells out quickly.

you got that right... amazon ain't the place for collectibles that are out of production. those two-car sets originally cost $20 each.

So they are coming out with individual Lego mini-figures? http://minifigures.lego.com/en-us/default.aspx
Collect all 16 unique LEGO minifigures!

Each minifigure comes in a sealed “mystery” bag, so you never know which minifigure you might get. And each minifigure has its own special accessories, display plate and collector’s leaflet. Inspired by movies, sports, history and just everyday life, this collection includes: Demolition Dummy, Forestman, Cowboy, Super Wrestler, Zombie, Ninja, Cheerleader, Skater, Tribal Hunter, Circus Clown, Magician, Deep Sea Diver, Robot, Nurse, Caveman, and Spaceman.
Pretty nifty.

yeah, there are two series announced thus far, the first of which is already showing up in TRUs all over the place (except where i am, of course :frus: )

you can see all of them in hi-res glory over at brickset

series 2 is on flickr

i'm all in it for series 1, but series 2 isn't as exciting to me for some reason. as time gets closer to release, i'll probably find a reason to want them all.

i finally got a set today - as i was travelling today, i called a few locations along the route, plus the one closest to me. the poughkeepsie store didn't get any in today, the one in jefferson valley, NY didn't have them, the one in carle place, NY on Long Island didn't have them but finally the one in valley stream, NY 'had two' - i wasn't sure if she meant two bags left, or two full boxes, and i got cut off before finding out. i called back and she said "yep, we have two of them" and I said "two bags, or two boxes?" she didn't realize they were individually packaged, and opened a box and after i said i'd be around about 3-4pm told me she'd hold it behind the customer service desk and that "maybe they won't put it out".

it was still there when i got there at about 5:30pm (!) and i whipped out the barcode cheatsheet and went to work comparing. i got a full set of 16, plus one more ninja; two more zombies, robots and cowboys; and three more spacemen (he's absolutely my favorite).

i had to share this, as i finally finished designing it, but didn't want to share with the greater LEGO community until i can actually build it. LEGO created a program called LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) which at first had a rather limited color palette and parts selection, but i found out you can hack the program to unlock 'Universe Mode' which gives you basically all parts in current production in all colors (regardless of actual availability of that part in that color). that's when i decided to design my first hover car:

That looks sweet!

I've played with that LEGO Creator from the website, and yeah, the parts are limited. It's fun though. My daughter loves to build houses with it.

if you're a member of eurobricks you can find out how to unlock universe mode - it's worth it... you can use basically any currently available piece and paint it any color. i also found a java app that someone wrote that will take your LDD file and output an inventory list that you can then save a CSV file or an XML file that you can upload to BrickLink to automatically import a 'want list'!

EDIT: added a shot of the bottom of the model

I finally finished it...

Phoenix Corp. does it again with the 2278 Fireball, an instant classic flying car with room for a driver and three passengers.

With a X/K-11 Dark Energy Emitter on anti-grav duties and dual Hurst Matter/Anti-Matter colliders on forward propulsion, the Fireball gets you there fast, in style AND comfort.

At an altitude of 3,000 metres the patented ForceShield windscreen extends to a bubble canopy for high-altitude and space flight, where the air purifier can pump the gaseous mixture of your choice into the cabin.

456 bricks, four minifigures, and four briefcases.
