Cheap DVD buys

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

Likely a 20% off coupon, which would be good until the 22nd, and all orders have free shipping should you choose that method.
"Once there were brook trout in the streams in the mountains. You could see them standing in the amber current where the white edges of their fins wimpled softly in the flow. They smelled of moss in your hand. Polished and muscular and torsional. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery."

Like I posted elsewhere:

As part of their Gold Box: Deal of the Day, Amazon has Seasons 1-3 of Deadwood on sale for $89.99 today. Not a bad price, at ~ $30 per season, considering these things rarely go on sale.

Another Amazon Gold Box Deal of the Day:

The Planet of the Apes Ultimate DVD Collection in Collectible Ape Head packaging! MSRP of $180, on sale for $58.99. There is a $5 off coupon (CODE: MAYDVDS5) which will take it down to $53.99. Not bad at all for 14 discs and a limited edition set in some awesome packaging.

Got my Ape Head last week. Thing is pretty freakin' sweet. I'll probably sell it though as I am damn near broke.

DeepDiscount is having a Criterion Collection Buy One Get One Free Sale that will start this Wed. and run for a couple of weeks. Not sure if you all are into CC movies or not, but just thought I'd pass it along. I'd pick up a few titles if DVDPlanet mirrors the sale (store credit).

Club Dread was the only other one that was there that I considered buying. I've seen it on some movie channel. Its ok, but not as funny as Super Troopers.

It should also be noted that the Princess Bride is the 2 disc "Buttercup Edition". Good transfer and lots of extras, when compared to the 1 discer of old.

It seems like a new Princess Bride DVD just came out not that long ago.

While I was there, I noticed that WM has The Fifth Element for $7.50. It seems like it was just $20 not that long ago.

Yeah, it would seem. The Butter Cup and Dread Pirate editions (exact same, different art work) are the most recent, and are the ones to get; if you don't already own the film on dvd. I think I read where they are going to be releasing yet another version in the near future too, no joke.

I saw today that Wal-Mart has both animated Hellboy DVDs in a two-pack for $10.
