The Shawshank Redemption is an amazing movie, and The Green Mile is pretty close behind it if you've not seen that one. It's a bit more supernatural, and Shawshank is one of King's rare "totally based in what could actually happen" stories.

For those of you who haven't seen any HP movies, or only the first: the first one is really kid-friendly. They get darker as they go along. It's a slow progression, but the real turning point comes in Goblet of Fire (#4), where suddenly something happens that makes it clear there isn't any going back. All of them are excellent movies.

i actually have read the green mile when the chapters came out as serials. i've heard the movie doesn't live up to it, but i'll probably end up seeing it at some time.

much, MUCH darker. it's freakin' awesome. i still think prisoner of azkaban is my favorite, though. and i have a feeling i'm going to find the last movie/movie and a half boring, as i was a bit bored by the last book. except for the climax.

I'm actually surprised at how many movies I've seen. But out of the ones already listed, I haven't seen the Bourne movies, Blade Runner, and Fargo. I also haven't seen any of the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness movies. I planned to rent them recently, but I never got around to it.

GG Get Evil dead 2 and 3, the first one is basically a low-rent version of the next 2 IMO

Hell there's tons of films here I could name, almost every film in the thread except for Alien I have not seen.

I pretty much don't like movies

I'll add the Godfathers and most of the Harry Potters to my list. I'm really not a fan of gangster movies (so I'm in no big hurry to ever see them) and I saw a few minutes of the first HP and most of another (I forget what one, but it even felt like watching a Cliff's Notes movie).

I wasn't so thrilled with Reservoir Dogs, Scarface, and the not-yet-mentioned Goodfellas. I think they were so over-hyped that they couldn't live up to the expectations.

I saw Goodfellas before it was really over-hyped. It was good, but not one of those movies you need to watch it again.

I wouldn't bother with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, either.

Add Fargo and Kill Bill to my list. Kill Bill is on one of the movie chanels we get from time to time, I just have no desire to see it.

One of my friends used to keep saying that I needed to see Underworld. He said something about Vampires vs. Werewolfs. This guy was different...he couldn't remember his neighbor's name, but could rattle off which B-movies a given actor was in.

Those of you who have not seen Blues Brothers. Fess up now if you haven't seen Animal House.

The best part of Underworld was the trailer. That fucker should have won awards for making the movie look incredibly awesome, rather that the piece of shit it was.

And I have seen Animal House. Another over-hyped movie.

I haven't seen Caddyshack or Porky's though.

I saw part (about 1/2) of Animal House and thought it was vastly overrated.

I wouldn't say it was overrated, rather over-mimicked by a slew of school-based comedies like American Pie, Road Trip, Old School, etc. and parodied by the Simpsons and Futurama.

The Porky's movies are basically the Teens vs. Authority movies with T&A and dick jokes.

I like Caddyshack, but I wouldn't force it on anyone. You have to like Rodney Dangerfield and Chevy Chase to enjoy it. When you get down to it, it is just another Us vs. The Establishment movie. It is a bit dated, too.

If we're veering into overrated territory, Fast Times at Ridgemont High wins that, hands down. Take out the nudity. Take out the pool scene. Take out all five minutes or so of Spicoli.

What you have left is a rank piece of shit.

Another thing I probably need to confess is that I haven't seen any of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies begning to end, the most recent Batman, or Spiderman 3. Have no intention to see Brokeback Mountain--not because of the subject matter, I just don't dig drama/love stories.

I'd say skip Spider-Man 3, but others would disagree. Probably best to watch it and decide for yourself.

Brokeback Mountain is a very good movie, but I wouldn't say it's great. There are parts that you really wish they hadn't filmed. But, then again, there's the glorious surprise of Anne "I never show my bare tits" Hathaway's bare tits.

I would very, very highly recommend Batman Begins and all three Pirates movies.

I've seen parts of all 4 of those movies. Pretty sure I've seen most of the first Pirate movie. HBO was running Batman Begins for a while, I just wasn't in the mood to watch it at the time.

I'm almost right with you, I've not seen Pirates 3, Spiderman 2 or 3 and brokeback mountain, I don't like cowboys! Have not seen any of the Fantastic 4 movies or the Hulk or Kingkong.

Animal house, I think I saw, but don't remember. Caddyshack...overrated and boring to me.

Ooo, ooo, how 'bout Nat'l Lampoons Vacation? I've seen all of those, my fav of course it the original and I love Christmas Vacation...the others...not so much.

I've seen most of Brokeback Mountain. I thought it sucked (zing!) but not because of the gay stuff, but because it was boring as all hell.

As for the National Lampoons movies - Christmas Vacation is the only one worth a damn (and one of the greatest Christmas movies ever). Vacation and European Vacation were just ok and Vegas Vacation sucked.
