My God, Chux, are you suggesting he's a bigger tool than Cap?

Neither do I, but it could've been worse (Nicolas Cage or Vince Vaughn).

Yeah, JJ. In fact, Civil War was just a fight to see which was the bigger tool.

New trailer (#3).
Fuck, this movie looks amazing. This could actually almost make up for the shitfests that were X3, Spidey 3, Ghost Rider, FF 1&2, and the upcoming Hulk 2, Punisher 2, and Wolverine shitfests.
I always hated Iron Man. Joking aside, everything about him should've worked--self-destructive alcoholic bastard who builds a suit of armor and becomes a hero--but never gelled on the page. It's always the alcoholic, the bastard, or the hero; occasionally two, but never all three at once. This looks like it could be the first great Iron Man story.
And it appears from this trailer that James "Rhodey" Rhodes will be appearing, and helping Tony revamp the armor. With their tendency for using old metal tracks in the previews, I wonder why they haven't incorporated Kiss' "War Machine." Gene Simmons is known to love comics, especially Marvel superheroes. Is Vinnie Vincent being a dickhead again, or are they holding that for a sequel?

Because War Machine won't be showing up until the sequel, even though Rhodes will have a decent role in this one. I think they're saving Mandarin for the sequel as well. But I'm in the same boat as you, 'Nark. I could give a shit less about Iron Man in the comics, but this movie looks awesome. Especially him blowing up that tank. Badass.

Yeah I can't wait to play that part of the video game!
Oh, it wasn't from a game?
Nevermind.
This still looks like a well-polished turd.

If they're not planning to use War Machine (the character), the song by that name has the sickest riff ever heard in a Kiss song. No disrespect to Ace, but Vinnie tore that one to pieces. It would work really well in an action trailer like this.
If they are planning to use War Machine in a sequel, they're idiots. Some things work well in a comic that goes for 40+ years that can't work in a few 2-hour movies.
I'm a little surprised you don't like the look of this, Diabolical.

I think its because I've never liked Iron Man. He's such a boring character.
I'm sure I'll give the movie a shot though. It could surprise me.

Y'know, call me wishy-washy, but I've decided to give this one a pass unless it gets fucking amazing reviews. I'm talking Roger Ebert saying, "God damn, this movie was so fucking awesome, I flew to Hollywood to blow Jon Favreau." And then Richard Ropert responding, "Shit, I thought I was the only one. Did you let Robert Downey Jr cornhole your ass as well? Because this performance earned him the right to cornhole everyone in America." And then Bryan Singer and Christopher Nolan stroll in and say, "Yeah, we're fucking sorry for the piece of shit superhero movies we put out. From now on, we're going to work as interns for Favreau in the hopes that some of his greatness will one day rub off on us."
Why? It occurred to me that, well, I don't like Iron Man. After the initial "fuck, that looks awesome!" wore off, Iron Man isn't enough to excite me, even with the ridiculously obvious use of Black Sabbath in every. single. fucking. trailer. It looks very pretty, but John Romita Jr wasn't enough to make Iron Man less of a bland douchebag, so I'm not sure that any amount of cool special effects can pull it off, either.
I simply cannot get the "HOLY FUCK!!!" factor from Tony Stark that I get from Speed Racer or Batman. As pricey as movies are, and as seldom as we can get to the theaters, I'm betting on those two instead.

As a longtime fan of the late 70's-mid-80's Iron Man I have to say I'm looking real forward to this, but am nowhere near as excited for this as I am for fuckin Speed Racer- Iron Man gives me a more "looks like they damn near nailed it, should be cool" kind of feeling whereas that fuckin Speed Racer film looks like the greatest acid trip crossed with the wildest amusement park ride CROSSED with ninjas plus a monkey.
I have shown quite a few folks who know nothing of the property and gotten a couple "Holy FUCK!!" reactions- when I watch (and I do so frequently) that yahoo 4 minute thingy I literally get a crazy adrenaline rush and laugh through the whole thing, it looks insanely awesome despite whet some other folks think
I'll be seeing Iron Man on the weekend and will offer an objective-as-possible review, I am sure I will enjoy much of it but there's always something

I just read comments on a scene after the closing credits that has a lot of people excited, and makes me think, "God damn, that is the most Snigtarded thing I've ever fucking heard of." It really could not be dumber if Peter Frampton walked out, mounted Tony Stark, and said, "I'm in you!!"
After reading about that, definitely passing. This is an HBO movie now, not even a DVD movie.

I'm seeing it at midnight tonight. I'm not as hyped about it as I was for some of last year's summer movies, or stuff like "The Dark Knight", but I don't think I'll be disappointed. I mean, just look at the fucking cast....Robert Downey Jr, Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges...Christ, there's not a bad actor in the bunch.
