Actually, it was both. The first half was Hawkguy and the second was Hawkeye (the one with tits).Tom Foolery wrote:I'm pretty sure it's Hawkguy.Diabolical wrote:Hawkeye #5 - 2 short stories featuring both Hawkeyes during Hurricane Sandy.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
A dozen books this week. TF ReGen got pushed back a week and the final issue of Snake Eyes wasn't there, so I picked up a couple tryout issues. One I was happy with, the other I was not.
Avengers 5. We find out the origins of the new Smasher. Turns out she's the granddaughter of Golden Age hero Dan Dare and she's the first human from Earth to become part of Shi'Ar Imperial Guard's Elite Team. Well, good for her!!
Avengers Assemble Annual 1. I think every annual from Marvel these days is a #1. By the times second annual is available, they've renumbered already. Anyway, this one is about the Vision dealing with coming back to life. Also, Aurthur Dearborn AKA Sunturion is trying to blow up Roxxon. It's always fun when they dredge up old 80s villains.
New Avengers 3. Beast replaces Xavier in The Illuminati. They put the Infinity Gauntlet back together to repel another Universe encroaching on ours, but Captain America muffs it and all the Gems shatter. So the rest of the Illuminati mind wipe Cap.
Daredevil End of Days 5. Urich talks with an imprisoned Frank Castle about Matt's last words. Then Castle breaks out of prison. Eventually Urich gets thrown out of a very high window and Daredevil swings in to save him. WTF?!
Fearless Defenders 1. Valkyrie and Misty Knight fight undead Viking women awoken by an ancient Asgardian music box. Cullen Bunn's writing is the equivalent of drinking tepid tap water. Bleh.
GIJoe ARAH 187. The end of the Benzheen story arc. The bomb doesn't go off. But Lt. Falcon DOES get shot in the face. And Destro screws over everybody on the last page. High five, Destro!
Iron Man 6. Iron Man heads into space and almost gets some hot purple alien nookie like James T. Kirk until he takes off his helmet and she sees his facial hair. Shot down! Then he gets arrested for killing the Phoenix Force in AvX.
Superior Otto 3. Otto beats up Vulture. And Carlie is figuring out Otto isn't Peter. Plus, a buddy of Rollo's got his letter printed! And then they dis Rollo's hometown of Davenport.
Transformers MTMTE 13. Swerve and bunch of the other 'Bots take Ultra Magnus out and they all get drunk. And a billion other hilarious things happen in this issue.
Transformers Spotlight: Megatron. Set after Megatron was rebuilt after AHM and comes back after three years to find Starscream has turned his mighty Decepticon army to total shit in just a thousand days.
X-Factor 251. Hell on Earth War continues. We find out why Pluto, Hela, Mephisto, Sattanish, and the other Hell Lords want Rahne's baby dead.
All New X-Men 7. Mystique finds Young Scott and fills his head with a bunch of BS to further her own agenda. Kitty Pryde beats up Young Bobby. Young Scott shows Jean their wedding invite. This book is great because there is so much potential here. It's really revitalized the X-Books.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Nine books this week. I tacked on an extra book because it was the final issue and it had a cool cover. So, two last issues and two first issues this week.
Avengers Assemble 12. I dropped this before Bendis' first arc even finished, but this was the start of DeConnick's second arc so I thought I'd give it a chance. The arc is titled 'Widow's Ledger'. Yes, it IS a title based on one line of dialog from the uber popular Avengers Movie. It seems Black Widow felt bad about being an assassin for decades so she went around the globe and gave her victims' families "vouchers" or some shit that they can call in if theyre ever in a jam(that's totally fair right? I killed your Dad, but now I'm like AAA if you need me. But only ONCE! Because I only killed your dad once. Yeesh.) Anyway, some Russian kid calls in the marker and BW, Hawkguy, and Spider-Woman go to Russia and end up fighting lizard people in the sewers. Despite the dopey 'voucher' premise it's fun to watch Hawkguy dealing with his ex and current GF at the same time.
Secret Avengers 1. FIRST ISSUE. Despite a mildly amusing bit where Hawkguy is questioning Marcus "New Nick Fury" Johnson's new codename or whatever, this issue had a huge gaping plothole. So the premise is various Avengers like Hawkguy and Black Widow will voluntarily get brainwashed by SHIELD to go on top secret missions so they can't compromise security. Now clearly Black Widow, who's suffered a lifetime of brainwashing and conditioning would be vehemently opposed to this. Except in one Panel of one Page, they get around this HUGE stall in the entire premise. And that one Panel is REDACTED. I shit you not, that's how fucking lazy the writing/editing team was. They just skipped over it because it was too hard to come up with a solution. Fuck you. Dropped. Oh and PS, the first mission took place in Budapest. So that's TWO throwaway lines of dialog from the Avengers Movie getting turned into storylines in the comics.
Batman 17. The End of Death of the Family. Joker cuts off everybody's faces and now everybody hates Bruce. So the "family died".
Fantastic Four 4. Heh. The fourth issue of a Fantastic Four series. That's only happened...four times. Weird. Anyway, some aliens find ancient cave paintings of the FF and start treating Sue like the second coming. It turns out Reed went back in time and did the paintings himself. Why? I have no idea. This book has a very short leash or I'm dropping it.
Snake Eyes/Stormshadow 21. FINAL ISSUE. The silent issue. Stormshadow and the Hard Master both try to recover an ancient sword that was discovered and is now on display in a museum. Then they meet and fight, but then team up to kill a bunch of assassins who try and ambush them.
Scarlet Spider 14. Kaine is dying from werewolf bites and Aracely is about to be killed by the Lobos. So Kaine embraces The Other to survive. Ugh. Did we have to dig up that Other shit? The Other was worse than the Clone Saga. Why would you bring it up? *sigh*
Transformers ReGenOne 88. Scorponok's fiendish plot continues. Soundwave and Bludgeon plot. Lots of other things happen. Don't want to spoil.
X-Men 41. FINAL ISSUE. The adjective less series that started with Mutants vs Vampires back in 2009 ends its run. It had a cool cover which is 80% of why I bought it. A new mutant shows up and the X-Men fight a new Freedom Force to see who he'll go with. Eventually Storm allows the young mutant to choose and he chooses Freedom Force. Honestly, I'm way more excited to see the new X-Men #1 in April. It's an all female team written by Brian Wood and drawn by Oliver Coipel. Storm, Rogue, Kitty, Rachel, Jubilee, and Psylocke? Sign me up.
Uncanny X-Men 1. FIRST ISSUE (oh no it isn't, it's the 565th issue). A mysterious member of Scott's inner circle turns informant and goes into SHIELD to tell them Cyclops' powers don't work anymore and he'll help them bring the new Mutant folk hero down. The traitor? Magneto, sporting a new shaved head ala Charles Xavier. Bendis has revitalized the X-books in just a few weeks. This shit is gonna be awesome.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Batgirl #17 - Bob's brother continues to torment her.
Batman #17 - Oh wait. *sigh* Fuck you Diamond.
Batman and Robin #17 - Damien has nightmares. Pointless fill-in issue.
Before Watchmen: Comedian #5 - More of the Comedian in 'Nam.
Fatale #12 - Still playing catch up.
Fury: My War Gone By #9 - POWs Fury and Castle decide they don't want to be POWs.
Secret Avengers #1 - I thought the Redacted bit was kinda funny, whether they ever decide to expand it or not. The rest of the issue was just ok.
Transformers: Regeneration One #88 - Enough deviant robot sex to make Garth Ennis blush.
Uncanny X-Men #1 - I love the team of Bendis/Bachalo so I'll stick with it for a few, but I wasn't super impressed, despite some interesting concepts.

Yeah, you should have. What made you realize this now?
After the bad ass way Ennis used Fury in Punisher Max, Parlov on pencils and the obvious eventual Castle appearances, there was no way I was going to miss it.
I'd love to find the first Max Fury series Ennis did. I didn't know it even existed until recently.

The 'Redacted' thing was funny. Until you realize the writer only did it because he had no way to plausibly explain why Black Widow would Voluntarily submit herself to BRAIN WASHING YET AGAIN. Then it just becomes pathetic narration. Comic book fail.Secret Avengers #1 - I thought the Redacted bit was kinda funny, whether they ever decide to expand it or not. Batman #17 - Death of the Family finale. Kinda disappointing.
Daredevil #23 - While waiting for Foggy's test results Matt takes Foggy out DD'ing so he can see what it's like. And someone is trying to recreate the accident that gave Matt his powers. My money is on Kingpin.
Deadpool #5 - Wade fight Reagan in space then gets his ass whooped by Washington.
Nightwing #17 - Dick tries to deal with what Joker did to the circus.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Nine this week. I had eight and decided to grab the final issue of Hellblazer and not put back Captain Marvel. Mistake. So, two first issues and one final issue (is it weird that every single week is either a first issue, a final issue, or usually both? This industry is #%@ed up.
Avengers 6. Shang-Chi delves into the new Captain Universe's history. Otto is a dick to Sunspot and Cannonball and eats their food out of the fridge. Tony is trying to decipher Blackveil's language until Capt Universe explains Tony is mistranslating Darkveil's name. It's actually Nightmask. And the White Event is coming. I swear that last part has me squeeing like an eight year old! Hickman rocks.
Dark Avengers 187. Now that I started getting this again, I found its getting cancelled with issue 190.
Captain Marvel 10. Deathbird fights Carol. This had awful art. As I said, mistake.
Daredevil 23. Matt and Foggy bond. Somebody is trying to recreate the acciden-- oh, Diabolical already covered that. Foggy has the cancer.
GI Joe 1. FIRST ISSUE. The Joe team is out in the spotlight with toys and their own imbedded blogger as they invade a town in Ohio run by Cobra! Windmill dies. I thought that was a made up Joe but it turns out he was a real figure from the toyline. Touché Van Lente.
Hellblazer 300. Truthfully I only got this because it was the last issue and it kind of symbolizes the death of the entire Vertigo line. Sad. Go screw, DC. You bastards.
Nova 1. FIRST ISSUE. A kid's dad is the janitor at his high school and claims he used to be a Nova Corpsman. Nothing happens. Decompressed stories of replacement C-list characters should not cost $4. Go screw, Jeph Loeb.
Superior Otto 4. Massacre escapes Ravencroft and kills a bunch of people (including Ashley Kafka. Wow.) Otto is pissed Peter never actually got his doctorate, thus preventing him from referring to himself as Dr. Parker so he reenrolls in ESU. And the Green Goblin is back.
X-Factor 252. Hell on Earth War continues. Rahne's son attacks and kills Underworld Lord Pluto. The rest of the Hell Lords turn on each other. Madrox gets taken by Mephisto. If somebody other than Peter David were writing this, it would be THE Event of 2013 with about a hundred tie ins. It's that epic. The sky is bleeding, yo.
Avengers 6. Shang-Chi delves into the new Captain Universe's history. Otto is a dick to Sunspot and Cannonball and eats their food out of the fridge. Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
I vaguely remember Warren Ellis doing Hellblazer for what, 6 months? It was great. Sadly I never put a run together or kept buying after he left.
Oh, and I bought comics too - still getting Avengers apparently, even though I cancelled it some time ago - New Avengers as well (which I don't remember asking for, but whatever it's Hickman so I'll read what he put aside). Game of Thrones, DD and GI Joe are in there as well.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Batman: The Dark Knight #17 - Something to with Mad Hatter, according to the cover. Not read yet.
Before Watchmen: Dr. Manhattan #4 - Not read yet.
Guardian of the Galaxy #0.1 - Prologue to the series featuring Star Lord's origin. Bought it because everything I've read from Bendis lately has been solid to great. Not bad. I'll check out issue #1.
Hawkeye #8 - The chick from a few issues ago returns looking for help. And the assembled bad guys decided enough is enough and decide to take action against Hawkeye. I think I know why I love this series - it reminds me of Criminal, but set in the Marvel Universe and far more lighthearted.
Punisher: War Zone #5 - The Avengers are pissed, especially Stark. They track down Frank and take him down (eventually), but not before Logan helps Alves escape. Awesome ending that doesn't fit at all with Thunderbolts.
Rocketeer: Hollywood Horror #1 - Cliff gets involved in the search for a missing scientist.
Star Wars #2 - Not read yet, but Boba Fett already makes an appearance.
Thunderbolts #5 - Not read yet. Can't quite recall the last issue...
Uncanny Avengers #4 - The team defeats Red Skull (kinda), but in three months (comic time, I assume) shit goes south big time via flash forward - Onslaught comes back.
Uncanny X-Men #2 - Scott and Emma attempt to deal with wonky powers and talk about their relationship. While they take the new kids home to tell their families they are OK, Magneto sells them out and the Avengers get the drop on them.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
A dozen books this week. I rounded up from ten and broke down and got that Robin death issue, and then added a Deadpool issue. Again, a first issue and a final issue in the same week. How long will this trend last?
Young Avengers 2. Here's the Keiron Gillen I know. The alternate dimension "mom" that Billy saved last issue turns out to be some kind of bitch monster and possesses Billy's Parents and somehow the Avengers as well. So Teddy and Billy ask Kid Loki for help. And pay his delinquent diner tab. Then they head to Broxton, OK.
Avenging Otto 17. Otto ends up babysitting the FF kids while the Fan Faux leave on a mission. Bentley designs some kind of Time Travel device which causes the Time Variance Authority to send Death's Head (holy shit, the guy is everywhere! I'm peeing myself!!) to kill Otto. Hilarity ensues. And the TVA knows Otto's secret and drop a whole bunch of foreshadowing at the end of the issue.
Batman Inc 8. Oh yeah. He dead. All kinds of arrowed, shot, stabbed, beaten, and finally skewered on a sword. Then Batman farts on his head. No, I made that last part up, but it's New 52 so who cares? Happened. Didn't happen. All irrelevant.
Deadpool 5. Deadpool fights zombie Reagan and some Soviet space chimps.
FF 4. Shulk goes on a date with ex-beau Wyatt Wingfoot. Bentley and the Moloids attempt to sabotage it because they've got crushes on Jen.
Gambit 9. Oh thank goodness Clay Mann is back on art. Remy goes to the Club with No Name to find Joelle and get her out of trouble, but ends up getting them both in MORE trouble.
Guardians of the Galaxy 0.1. Sorta FIRST ISSUE. (by the way Marvel, Point One issues are supposed to be $2.99 so kudos on breaking your own rule, shit heads) Peter "Starlord" Quill's Origin. His mom shagged a space guy.
Hawkguy 8. Cherry, the hot redhead Hawkguy shagged a few issues ago shows up needing help because she's in hot water with the Track Suit Mafia, Bro. Shenanigans ensue. And then all the crimelords in NYC decide enough is enough and put the hit out on Hawkguy.
Punisher War Zone 5. FINAL ISSUE of Greg Rucka's run. Castle pulls a hat trick of getting the drop on Iron Man and has a final showdown with the Avengers so that Rachel can escape and continue the War. Agree with Diabolical, the end does not jive with TBolts at all.
Transformers RID 14. HO. LY. SHIT.
HO.
LY.
SHIT.
And that's all I can say.
Uncanny X-Force 2. Erm. Something about Spiral selling drugs and Bishop is back as a glowing energy bear, and Fantomex stole the President's toothbrush to give to his own female clone who he's shagging.
Uncanny X-Men 2. *sigh* (it's not issue 2, it's issue 566--y'know what? Doesn't even matter. Its just misleading is all. It's whatever issue you want it to be Marvel...) Cyclops and Emma attempt to reconcile their post-Phoenix relationship and power fluctuations and we get a tour of the new Xavier school (it's in the old Weapon X facility). And the Avengers show up on the last page, ready to scrap.

My theory: that ain't the Punisher in Thunderbolts.DeckardSmith wrote:Punisher War Zone 5. Agree with Diabolical, the end does not jive with TBolts at all.
The real Frank is sittin' in his fancy new cell, working out and watching tv.
And plotting.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
That would just make my day. I'm not reading Tbolts. At all. So I don't know if they're dropping clues or not. It's a bit douchey if they're pimping Tbolts to Punisher fans if it's not really him. And I looked at my only issue(yeuuch) Jordan White and Nick Lowe are the editors. Nick Lowe is the senior editor for the X-Books (which seems strange because none of the TBolts are X-characters) and Steve Wacker was editor on Rucka's book. So I'm thinking it's more that White and Lowe just didn't ask or give a shit how Rucka's run was going to end. And Daniel Way certainly didn't care as he's a shitty writer. As much as I would love for there to be some master plan of misdirection, Way doesnt have the chimp intelligence to pull that off. I'm guessing it's just miscommunication.Diabolical wrote:My theory: that ain't the Punisher in Thunderbolts.DeckardSmith wrote:Punisher War Zone 5.
