I was so wrapped up in the other stuff, I didn't even notice the lack of R2 and C-3PO. Chewbacca did look a bit off.

Rose Tico is also missing, given that Johnson explicitly said she's the most important new character. No "DJ" or Laura Dern, either.

Not seriously claiming it, but it would be an interesting twist if Luke is Snoke. He is burned up, and we do see Luke emerging from ashes of what was called the Praxeum in the EU.

My prediction: Benicio del Toro is too big an actor to play a bit part, and apparently "DJ" is a code name used in filmmaking and not his character's name. So that's the character to watch out for, and probably a better candidate for speculation than Snoke.

I honestly think, given how Rebels is headed and that we simply can't have Jedi in the Rebellion once Luke shows up, those guessing "DJ" is an old and disillusioned Ezra Bridger might not be as totally full of shit as they may seem.

Rebels is officially better than the Prequels or Sequels (so far). Holy shitballs, it's great.

Thrawn is every bit what Thrawn should be. And he's not even the best part of the show.

I'm behind on Rebels because I just catch it whenever I happen to be flipping through the channels. For some reason, I'm not smart enough to set the DVR for it, so I didn't see the end of the last season. Did the new season start?

You guys really might want to get up-to-date on Rebels prior to December 15, because the new figure package image that was released confirms (to me, at least) that Benecio del Toro is playing Ezra Bridger in The Last Jedi.

I'm basing this on quite a few production and continuity factors and not pulling it out of my ass. (Chief among them is that it's been confirmed the name "DJ" isn't said onscreen, it's not the character's name, and they're keeping the real name under strict wraps.) I don't want to spoil for those of you who haven't watched it, but I can.

Saw the first two episodes of the new season. Awfully high body count for a show on the Disney Channel. And, especially gruesome when they describe how that weapon works.

I watched Rogue One yesterday. It was only my 2nd time seeing it. Does the flashback at the beginning jive with the Prequels as far as the Death Star goes?

Tarkin and Leia still look just a tad fake. Dr. Evazan didn't look right at all. Mon Montha was pretty dead on.

I know they hid a few things from the Rebels animated series in there, but I missed all of them.

Mon Mothma was the same actress as in RotS. It kinda jives in that the Geonosians could build the station but not the weapon. There's a new-canon novel that tells how Galen Erso got involved, and how and why he got out.

The Rebels tie-ins are Chopper in the background of one Yavin scene, a PA call for Commander Syndulla, the Hammerhead freighter procured from Leia, and a glimpse of the Ghost in the space battle. So we know Chopper, Hera, and the Ghost are around at least to this movie, though I wouldn't bet on anyone else (unless Ezra is DJ).

Genevieve O'Reilly's scenes as Mon Mothma were cut from ROTS. They showed up in the deleted scenes.
It was cool that Lucasfilm asked her to come back for Rogue One.

We were at a Thanksgiving dinner at my GF’s family’s house. Watching Force Awakens and then ANH. While we were watching my son and I were talking about the Skywalker lineage and the Luke’s relation to Owen and Beru. So obviously Shmi and Anakin come up. My GF’s six year old cousin is watching and sorta listening to us and he goes “Anakin? That’s Darth Vader!” Then he drops the knowledge bomb on us that Darth Vader is Luke’s dad.

We totally went along with it and were all like “WHHAAAAT?? NOOO WAAYYYY!!!” It was so much fun having a six year old explain Star Wars to us. We were trying to stump him with questions like if Luke is Vader’s son why doesn’t he live with him on the Death Star.

We then find out he hasn’t watched the prequels yet, which made it even funnier. Asking him about Mace Windu and Order 66 and he’s like ‘what’s that?’

But it’s always cool experiencing the next generation of fans as they discover Star Wars. He was very earnest in his excitement.

Also, I learned that Threepio blinks. Once. Never noticed it before.

A while back, I read something that people were debating what the title "Last Jedi" meant. I saw The Force Awakens over the weekend. Snoke calls Luke, "The Last Jedi".

Also, in the scene after Rey finds the lightsaber, Maz tells her that it called her out and that it belonged to Luke, and his father before him. To me, that implies she is Luke's daughter. Why else would a lightsaber call out to her? I'm sure lightsabers know better than to talk to strangers.

The opening crawl even says:
"Luke Skywalker has vanished. In his absence, the sinister FIRST ORDER has risen from the ashes of the Empire and will not rest until Skywalker, the last Jedi, has been destroyed."

Also, when the lightsaber flies to Rey's hand instead of Kylo, the Skywalker theme song plays pretty prominently.
If she's not Luke's daughter, then they better have a damn good story.
