In Rogue One, Bail Organa even tells Mon Mothma he's sending someone he trusts with his life to contact his friend on Tatooine. The Death Star plans weren't initially part of Leia's mission.

Carl Sagan realized he was over Star Wars completely in 1978.

I actually sat in awe watching that whole interview not only for Sagan but for Johnny. He was the pinnacle of late night show hosts.

I had to explain to my daughter just now that Carl Sagan is the Neil Degrasse Tyson of the 70s, and Johnny Carson was Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O'Brian, etc etc alll rolled into one and then multiplied by a factor of 100.

Letterman and Leno were great but the original is always the best.

Back to SW, re-watched Rogue One with ANH immediately after.
The eye for continuity with a 39-year-old film is impressive. And little things, too, like one unnamed (I think) Imperial officer being a dead ringer for a guy seen only briefly, in profile, in the Death Star briefing room for a second or two.
Someone needs to take a copy of this movie back to early 1998, show it to Lucas, and say, "At some point, other people WILL make more. This is how well they'll match up to the originals. Which will make otherwise minor continuity issues in your own prequels seem so much more glaring in comparison.
"And also everyone's going to hate that stupid fucking dipshit your son made up. The ridicule is not worth it. Buy the kid some ice cream instead."

I think they are web comics, published directly to that site. If you look at the top banner, there are 40 chapters which take you through the entirety of the OT, all from Luke's perspective.

My parents just texted me a picture. They are posing with a Stormtrooper and a Biker Scout. This whole May the 4th thing has gone too far.

It hasn't gone too far unless they're making the spock gesture. Then, and only then, has it gone too far.

My youngest brother said he doesn't think they even knew what "Star Wars day" is.
