Purple Rain on bluray. Should have been on Purplray but I digress. Did NOT remember the part where Morris Day's henchman, Jerome, tossed the nagging girlfriend into the dumpster to shut her up - times have changed. Maybe The Time has too.

John Wick Chapter 2. The opening was a little iffy, only because Peter Stormare as the brother/uncle of the first film's two protagonists. Stormare has basically become a parody of himself because he seems to exclusively play Russian mobsters now. But once the opening sequence was done, the movie became as badass as the first film. The third film is gonna be the fuckin tits. The entire world vs John Wick. Are there even enough bullets for every skull in the world?

Then came home and watched Lost in Space. Dear god, the effects from 20 years ago are shit. Blarp is fucking atrocious. I was laughing the entire time. As an aside, Dear Netflix, when I watch an awesome classic film, please don't "recommend" one of your shitty straight-to-netflix Adam Sandler or Kevin James movies. Once Upon a Time in the West and Ridiculous 6 are so far apart on the recommend scale, I feel like driving to wherever Netflix headquarters are kicking someone in the sack.

After Lost in Space, I watched the original Superman flick and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

John Wick 2 was bad ass. I'm happy they answered the big question I had after the first one - What about the car?

Also, I love Lost in Space. As bad as it is, it's one of my guilty pleasures (if I felt guilty about it).

I want to know how they shot the scene in John Wick 2 in the mirror exhibit because you never see the camera. You kinda take it for granted when you're watching the movie because you're engrossed in the action, but once you realize they had to put so much more effort into editing it, I really want to know what extra steps they took. That will be a fun documentary on the bluray to watch.

Haven't seen it yet, but Billy Dee Williams finally playing Two-Face makes me giddy as hell.

I wondered that myself.
It's possible many doors were through two way mirrors and the rest were careful digital editing when the camera moved around the actors.

Dirty Grandpa. Typical lowbrow comedy. But I kept laughing at the not so subtle flirting between Aubrey Plaza and DeNiro throughout the film. Pam the drug dealer was funny as well.

Superbad. Still funny as hell.

Once Upon a Time in the West. This should be watched once a year. One of the five greatest westerns ever.

Zoolander 2. So fucking stupid. But the opening five minutes are worth watching because Justin Bieber is assassinated and ges shot like literally 5000 times.

Arrival. Not a huge plot twist ala Sixth Sense or Fight Club, the ending did make me want to rewatch the movie knowing the 'twist'. Interesting movie.

The Accoutant. Ben Affleck is an autistic CPA who does taxes for drug lords and oil sheiks, but also happens to be Jason Bourne, John Wick, and the Punisher all rolled into one. Pretty entertaining with a good supporting cast. The 'twist' at the end with Grillo's character was totally obvious from the first moment he showed up onscreen and was the movies only weak spot.

Mike and Dave need Wedding Dates. Another typical lowbrow raunch comedy with a few funny bits. For like the first third of the movie I thought the sister was Veronica Mars, but it isn't.

Free movie channels this weekend on DirecTV.

Blues Brothers - It was on, therefore I watched it.

Starship Troopers - It was on and I wanted to see the red-head's boobs. Pretty much changed the channel after that scene.

Avengers - something something Ultron. Saw it once before. It was ok, but I just like Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool better.

Showgirls - Only saw about 10 minutes of it just to see how terrible it was. The acting was bad. Still, Gina Gershon is hot.

I had such a crush on Dina Meyer in the 90s. Ever since I saw her in Johnny Mnemonic wearing that chainmail shirt. Num.

Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It was on, therefore I felt obligated to watch it.

The last 2 months or so.

Arrival - One of the best movies of last year and in time will be considered one of the best science fiction films of all time.

I Am Your Father - Netflix doc about David Prowse. Meh.

Swiss Army Man - The Daniel Radcliff movie where he plays a farting corpse. Too weird to be good.

Slap Shot - Classic.

The Lego Batman Movie - Best. Batman. Movie. Ever.

Logan - Fantastic send off for Hugh Jackman.

Parks & Recreation - In the middle of season 5 now. Holy shit, I'm sorry that I didn't give the show a chance in the beginning because it was a carbon copy of The Office. By the end of season 2 it grows so far beyond that. I laugh hard at least once an episode.

Dr. Strange - Still a good Marvel flick, but far from their best.

King Kong - The O.G. 1933 classic.

Kong: Skull Island - Mindless fun, action flick.

Iron Fist - Easily the worst of the four pre-Defenders shows, but not horrible.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Maybe you've heard of it?

My kids and I went to see Fast and Furious 8 last weekend. I joked afterwards about them perfecting the uncanny valley because it without a doubt the best cartoon I have ever seen. Every scene was ridiculously over the top. But I enjoyed it. These movies are a guilty pleasure.

Maybe they've just perfected the Flock of Seagulls method and have gotten better with tin foil.

The only movie I've watched of late was Kong. Great mindless action. It'll definitely be a rewatch.

Suicide Squad - Quirky group of "heroes" set to a classic rock soundtrack. Seems like they kind of took from Guardians of the Galaxy. Will Smith played the same character he does in every other movie, except this time he is a bad guy. Overall, I guess it was ok.

Watched the Hulu documentary Bill and Me, about how Marc Nobleman's research for his book about Bill Finger led to Finger's granddaughter finally getting Bill the official credit he deserves as the creator of Batman. Good stuff. Check it out.
