'cuz then they're just toys and not collectibles. the fact that a wave consists of certain figures and then they're NEVER seen again causes the rabid fanboy pokemonesque "gotta catch 'em all" mentality. if they were going to be easier to find, they wouldn't bought RIGHT away.

Then they should shut up the bullshit that 90% of their toys collectibles are bought by and for kids. :)

Picked up Leia, Luke, Needa, and an Ugnaught today. No sign of the Hoth Trooper. They had Palpy, too, but he was super assfaced. Can anyone save me the bothering on a SW site and tell me if the torso of U-3PO comes with anyone else?

Didn't really care about the silver U-P30 or whatever its name was, but I wanted all of those figures. But, I won't buy figures from the prequels/clone wars to get the pieces. Hell, I skipped the ROTJ Deleted Scene figures.
Wait, you got those figures with R5 pieces? If so, then someone must have switched out the parts, since they only come with U-3PO as of right now.

The torso also comes with the Kashyyyk Trooper in the revision 1 cases, but that figure has been repacked several times so you'll have to check to be sure it's the right one. The Kashyyyk Trooper isn't in the revision 2 cases, meaning it'll come with either the Quad Cannon Clone Trooper, Obi-Wan in armor, Grievous, Luke in stormtrooper disguise, or Han in stormtrooper disguise.

That's why their more kid-centric stuff is easier to find and more available over long periods of time, like X-wing pilot Luke, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan in clone armor, and other figures they keep putting into Saga Legends or otherwise repacking. They've been doing this nonstop since the vintage days, either updating main characters or just re-releasing them. In some cases, it might have worked against them, like how you are passing on Grievous until they inevitably repack him with a cape, but that figure is definitely not sitting around anywhere so they must be onto something. Hell, we all remember the glut of Vader products a few years ago, but they all sold through and they keep repacking Vader to great success.

I'm not complaining about them keeping stuff in production. It'd be nice, though, if some of the more adult-centered stuff were kept in production.

I think they do a fairly good job overall with that. Go one way and it's another Yarna, Neimoidian Warrior, Sarlacc, or Moff Jerjerrod; go the other and it's impossible to find, like the Vader/Trachta comic pack (for me, anyway). I can't speak for other lines, but they do seem to have tried to make everything available lately, like how they're re-releasing the TFU Stormtrooper Commander at Comic Con. I've found everything else I've wanted, with the exception of wave 6, but I know it's coming.

Maybe it's just the Joe collector talking. That line is a serious clusterfuck.

You're right, I got it mixed up. The R5 came with part of the the ANH wave and the 3PO came with the ESB wave. Wasn't there 2 Build a Droids from the ANH wave? Funny. One of the few Legends figures I have purchased was the TC-14 from the TPM. I got it because I didn't think they'd get around to making the silver droid from ESB or ANH. Anyway, I think the Legends line is a good idea so they quit pumping out so many Vaders and other major characters.

Since the 25th Anniversary Joe line started, stores never seemed to ever have more than a peg or two worth of Joes in stock at any given time. The thing that surprised me about the GI Joe line is how fast they whipped out the Rattler and that other jet repaints. I thought they were stupid when I was a kid. There seem to be other vehicles and figures that deserved to be released before they dive into crappy repaints.

I've mentioned this before somewhere, but my kids are into the Little Pet Shop toys. Hasbro numbers each pet. They usually come in 2-packs, but there is a number assigned to each. Last I check, the last wave they bought was up to #970. Now, there aren't really that many different animals. It is the same dogs, cats, birds, turtles, etc. that are repainted. There are so many repaints, even Megan, who is 3, notices it. Both of my kids kind of surprise me because they tend to avoid the repainted pets. Typically they only ask for the new pets or pets that were only previously available in some sort of exclusive set that were released carded for the first time.

Kids ain't dumb. They know a gimmick.

BTW, the repainted Conquest is mine when it goes on clearance, which I suspect will be any day now. Hasbro was kind enough to make the army builder Python Viper exclusive to that set. :frus: I always thought the Python stuff mostly looked cool, but Tiger Force sucked ass, so I will avoid the repainted Rattler because of that and there's no fucking way in hell I need a fourth Wild Bill. (There was one carded. Several months later, you had to get a second one in the TRU Air Command 3-pack and one in the Wild Bill vs Scrap-Iron comic set. This was the only way to get Scrap-Iron, Starduster, and one other figure, I think Ace in uniform rather than flight suit.)

Got the Ewok Comic pack from Walmart. They also had the first wave of greatest hit figures on the new card. The only figures they had from the ESB wave were a couple Capt Needas and a whole bunch of Ugnaughts.

As stupid as we think the new Transformers movies are, there were kids all over the Transformers section at every store we went to.

GIJoe: Rise of Cobra Shipwreck. I got it only because it's, so far, the only "modern look" Shipwreck made. A nice figure overall. The accessories are sort of on the cheap side, and he could use a holster or two for his pistol and knife, but, otherwise, good. Very nice headsculpt of ol' Hector with the knit cap, and it really looks like he was planned to be in the 25th Anniversary line at some point. I wish I had noticed he had the stupid movie armor rather than the simple sweater he wore in the Devil's Due run of the original comic series, but I'm considering a torso (maybe full-body) swap at some point. At the very least, I'll paint him to cover up that snigtarded movie Joe insignia. Or maybe not; if I only have one guy with it, it could be his silly trademark. This is a guy who dressed like the fucking Village People sailor, so the retarded eagle is an improvement.

I wonder if the hat is made of body armor?

Wouldn't surprise me based on the *ahem* "style" of the movie.

Marvel Universe Ronin and a Star Wars Crab Droid. I got MU Spidey last week, and that pretty much has you up to date on what toys I've purchased.... this year.

I been buying me some Dr. Who exclusives. namely the 1st Doctor (colour version) with some Dalek or other, the 2nd Doctor with an old style cyberman and the 6th Doctor in his blue outfit. Plus I just managed to grab the SDCC Regenerated 6th Doctor in the 5th Doctors outfit.

I've pre-ordered the two 3rd Doctor packs that come with a Sea Devil and another Dalek.

I got two multipacks as well. the second of the Dalek collector sets - three Daleks from god knows when, and the 4th Doctor adventure set with 4th Doctor re-issue, green Voc robot, Suicide bomber Dalek and Robot Mummy w/ Canopic thermos flask.

of the modern Doctor who stuff i managed to find the deluxe build a figure vespiform on ebay. picked it up for £40 rather than buy all the re-issued figures i already have and pay a whopping £108 for the pleasure. it's actually just eleven of the twelve parts but i already got the twelfth part when i bought River Song.

Loooking for a Tardis with BAD WOLF grafitti now. Not even sure if they actually produced it or not but if it exists I will hunt it down and pay whatever it takes to own it.
I have never read any of your posts, but from what I can learn I should say that for people who like the kind of posts you deliver, they are just the kind of posts such people like.
