Shit, the guy's had more names than me. I wouldn't be surprised to find out I am him!

And we are both Gary Oldman. And Gary Oldman is quite possibly Fred Savage.

But Gary Oldman is not Gary Numan. Gary Numan is older than Gary Oldman.

Gary Oldman, born March 21, 1958. English actor, director, and writer known for his intense acting style and versatility. He's won an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and three BAFTAs, and has been nominated for three Primetime Emmys

Gary Numan, born March 8, 1958. English singer, songwriter and musician. His next tour of North America kicks off in Florida on March 7th. Why? Because he feels safest of all when he locks all his doors in cars.

Gary Sinise, born March 17, 1955 is older than both Gary Oldman and Gary Numan.

Fred Savage, July 9, 1976, which means he is currently 49. Peter Falk was 59 when they filmed The Princess Bride. Gary Oldman is not Fred Savage, but Fred is getting old, man.

Of all the Lego sets I’ve ever bought, I’d say four of them were missing pieces. And even then it was like ONE piece. So this was unusual and annoying. I sent Lego an email.
thankfully, they're really responsive to missing pieces requests, but that is rather egregious!
Not sure how I feel about SmartPlay. Back in my day SmartPlay was called ‘my imagination’. I didn’t need a microchip to make my X-Wing make laser sounds. I didn’t need Luke and Leia to talk to each other. I just used my vocal chords.
from what i gather, it's not going to be exact 1:1 playback of sound effects or dialogue. the "talking" is more like the mumbles from early LEGO video games and the sounds are slightly more generic zaps, swooshes, and explosions. while the implementation is interesting, the technology is FASCINATING to me!

and there's always the option to not buy/use the tech. i see what they're trying to do, though, making it more interactive for a generation that expects that of literally everything.

Was picking up a prescription at WM today and saw the Speed Champions BTTF DeLorean. So I had to get it.

grabbed The Nightmare Before Christmas during the 2xVIP points last week. and a few weeks before that cashed in some VIP points for the Micro Command Center space baby monorail set and put together a large PaB online order to use to build my planned Miles Morales Bodega/Peter's apartment modular building.

Bricklink Design Program Series 10 is open for voting. Everyone head over and pick your favorites! You don’t have to vote on every single set(there’s almost 600 this time around) but you might see a cool idea that wouldn’t otherwise ever get made. And every “Love it” helps.

Pre-ordered/Crowdfunded the Privateer Frigate Fortuna and the Sushi Restaurant sets from BDP series 7.
They won’t show up until late summer.

My missing bricks finally showed up, and I still managed to miss one for reorder. Bleh.

But these two bad boys showed up yesterday.

The old west sets always seem to do well in the voting. Why doesn't Lego just bring them back?

I’m only guessing. Lego’s mainstream mass produced sets geared to kids and playability usually have less bricks and ‘accurate’ representations. Relying on facade builds.
I’d say kids these days don’t give a shit about the old west(or castle or pirates for that matter) the way adult collectors are nostalgic for it. And adult collectors want higher end sets.

I wasn’t even gonna get the Goldmine set. I was just gonna get the Art Factory to put somewhere in my city. But the more I looked at the pics for the six months between the announcement and the crowdfunding, the more I started thinking I would regret not buying it. I did that with the Old Fishing Store back in 2017.

Started building the Art Factory last night. It’s a way funner build than I was expecting. After I built a micro couch and coffee table for a rat under the sidewalk, I was laughing like ‘did I just build a micro couch for a fucking rat?’ and then later on you build him a bed, nightstand, table, and a flatscreen TV hanging on his wall. But it’s all buried under the floor so you’ll never see it unless you built it. Loved it!
I modified the first floor ever so slightly, because it gives you several extra pieces of art to ‘store’(and swap out)in the floor, but I wanted to hang them in the gallery, so I flipped some exterior 2x2 bricks with studs on the sides, so I could hang the extra art on the walls. I also want to figure out some smaller, unobtrusive pedestals to place somewhere because there is also extra ‘sculpture’ art to swap out that is also stored in the floor.
I usually take my time on these bigger builds and space them out over several days because assembling them is half the fun. But I already went thru half the 31 bags in one night because I was enjoying it so much. The designer built it in such a way that both ‘opened’ and ‘closed’ work as if that’s the way it was intended to be displayed. I keep opening and closing it as I build and they both work almost flawlessly.
My only two peeves so far is that the elevator has two doors from two different sides, which seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. And secondly, the check-in desk at the front of the building is placed in such a way as it blocks one of the two entrance doors. If they’d just made that door a full window instead…but it’s a minor peeve because, hey, its just gonna sit in my city after this anyway.

Here’s the rat’s apartment under the floor. On the other side of that rathole is the couch amd coffee table.
And you can see the desk completely blocking the left door.
Also, the two smaller ‘paintings’ behind the desk is suppose to be a blank wall. That’s one of the two places I inverted the brick to add more art.
