Third batch.
Deadpool 13-14. DP 13 is 4 issues in one, I suspect to get people to buy Daredevil and PowerMan/IronFist series. 14 is a CW2 tie in.
Deadpool: Mercs for Money 3-5. The end of the mini. Lots of obscure villains try to steal the Recorder robot. Wade ends up blowing it up so nobody gets it.
Deadpool vs Gambit 1. Slapping Deadpool on a book sells copies.
Dr. Strange 7-9, Last Days of Magic, and Deadpool:Last Days of Magic. All of Earth's magic has been destroyed by the Emperikil. Strange amd the rest of Earth's magic users are up against the wall.
GIJoe ARAH 228-229. A teenage girl gets Snake Eyes memories put in her thanks to the brainwave scanner.
Guardians of the Galaxy 9. The GoGs rescue Angela. I think I missed an issue or two. Also, this doesn't reference Angela's recently cancelled solo title. I'm about done with this book.
Gwenpool 2-3. The Internet meme continues her adventures.
Hawkeye 6. The final issue. Had I known, I would've stuck it out for the extra couple issues. Now I'm missing one or two.
Howard the Duck 6-8. This hilarious series has sadly been cancelled.
Hulk 6-7. Hulk fights Thor. And we find out where Banner has been since Cho absorbed his Hulkiness.
Uncanny Inhumans 8-11. Honestly, not much worth mentioning. After a strong first arc, this series has gone limp. Already dropped the other Inhuman book. Might have to cut this one too.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Fourth batch.
Iron Man 9-10. Tony's been kidnapped. And some teenage Iron Girl gets introduced.
Intl Iron Man 2-4. Tony asks his arms dealing ex-gf who his real parents are.
Vote Loki 1. Loki is running for president in this satire of American politics.
Mockingbird 3-4. Fun and clever book continues its fun and clever opening arc.
Moon Girl/Devil Dinosaur 7-8. Luna gets her inhuman power, and it's the power to swap brains with Devil Dino.
Moon Knight 2-3. Mediocre relaunch of the MK book. Sadly, dropped.
Ms. Marvel 7-8. CW2 tie ins.
Nighthawk 1. Basically Batman in Chicago. But sans anything interesting. Dropped.
Poison Ivy 4-5. Was getting this series because of Clay Mann art. And he bailed after 3 issues. Dropped two issues too late.
Punisher 1-2. Meh. And goddamn Dillon art. Bleh.
Saga 36. Hazel is reunited with her parents. Moving.
Also a Preacher freeb, because of the new AMC series, and a Marvels Preview book for CW2.

I haven't hated Moon Knight. I want to at least finish the first arc.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
I just think the 'omg he's CRRAAAYYZZEEEEE!!!' aspect of the character has been run into the ground over the last few series.jjreason wrote:I haven't hated Moon Knight. I want to at least finish the first arc.
It doesn't help that I was introduced to the character during the Chuck Dixon 90s series and he played up the former mercenary aspect way more than the DID Stuff. He was like Marvel's less scrupulous Batman. Only later did I read his first series and get the loony part. But that seems to be all anyone focuses on anymore. The thing with this new arc is, obviously the guy is Moon Knight. He's been an Avenger. He's teamed up with Spidey and Ghost Rider and everybody. So at the end of the arc he's still Moon Knight. There's no tension there.
Also, MK has a supporting cast that's very unnecessary. But readers will bitch if Frenchie and Marlene and Crawley and Gena aren't in every series. You gotta wonder why Marlene even puts up with Marc's bullshit at this point.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
I think part 4 drops tomorrow, and that might be it for me, we'll see. The only other series I ever got was Fist of Khonshu, and it lasted 6 issues. I missed so many issues of the Bendis run that I didn't bother reading it past the first issue or two.
Interestingly, I was reading the Inhumans & Guardians a couple of days ago thinking I was nearly at the end there too, after it being seemingnly undroppable for the better part of 2 years. It's bad when you feel comfortable leaving a hero or team alone (much like we were forced to do with Reed & Sue) because you know what they're up to, month in & month out. Whether I read Punisher or not, I know he's shooting & knocking out drug dealers in warehouses, for example. I don't need to spend money on it every month.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Quite a few again this week, likely due to the fact I missed my main store last week, likely due to the fact that I had a near-catastrophic flood situation to deal with. But fuck all that, let's get to the new comics (which I've read none of so far):
Justice League 1 (no idea if this is the special or the first series issue, I guess I'll find out shortly)
Superman 2
Batman 2
Cap 2
Unc Inhumans 11
AN XM 10 duplicate copy - that'll teach me for assuming my main store missed the issue ><
Ex XM 11
Uncanny XM 9
DV 22
Han 2
Surfer 5
Iron Man 11
Hulk 8

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
If 'Rebirth' is above the title, it's the first issue, if it's below the title, it's the Special.
I get at least one duplicate issue a month. My last one was Iron Man 10. It happens because my guy reorders older issues he sells out of and then puts them with the new stuff on the day they come out. Most times, I catch it, but I get so many books and the covers just seem nondescript these days I can't tell which is which. Also, they use the cover images in the advertising and I see an image I'm not sure if I saw it as an ad or because I bought the issue already.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
I have left issues I needed because of the stupid fucking last page splashes showing next months cover - I recognize the image & dismiss the book as one I've already got. I HATE that. The cover should be a pleasant surprise for when you get the store each week or purchase the book upon it becoming avail digitally (and if you do that, you should get all the covers, because digital).

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Two weeks ago:
Detective Comics #935
Star Wars: The Force Awakens #1 - Meh. At least the OT adaptations were fun to read.
Last week:
Daredevil/Punisher #2
Dark Knight III #5
Darth Vader #22
Mockingbird #4
The Rocketeer at War #4
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #9 - Mole Man falls in love with SG
This week:
Batman #2 - Batman assumes that Gotham and Gotham Girl (stupid ass names) are legit. Nice Tim Sale cover though.
Daredevil/Punisher #3 - More of the story we've already read a hundred times.
Han Solo #2 - Han completes the first leg of the Dragon Void race. Good, but not as good as #1.
Paper Girls #7 - I caught up the other day. I have no idea what is really going on, but this book is weird in a good way.
Poe Dameron #4 - Poe and his crew, on the hunt for Lor San Tekka (psst, check Jakku!) get sent to meet a Hutt in prison.
The Punisher #3 - I had to flip through it to jog my memory from 8 hours ago, and I really don't remember much of the story.

I'm guessing he was punching & shooting guys who were involved in vice, likely in a warehouse setting. Or perhaps a dock.
The Tim Sale cover is lovely. Oh, and Anna Kendrick wants to play Squirrel Girl. I can't tell if I really want to bone her badly, or just the normal amount. She looks great some of the time & really not great some of the time.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Here is the Fifth Batch of catching up.
Silk 9. I dropped this while I was strapped for cash for a few months, so only this one issue so far. An evil Silk broke into Parker Labs during a crossover I didn't get and the real Silk has to repeat the process for Black Cat even though she has no idea how to be a burglar. Black Cat figures out Silks a double agent.
Silver Surfer 4. On order to save Earth, Norrin Radd has to sacrifice the culture of Zenn-La. Now he's without a "home world" so Earth adopts him.
Spider Gwen Annual 1. A bunch of short stories set in the SpiderGwen-verse.
Spider-Man 4-5. Ganke tells Goldballs Miles secret identity, which ticks off Miles. And Miles gets kidnapped by Black Cat. Miles' Grandma hires Jessica Jones to snoop on her grandson.
Spidey/Deadpool 4-6. Deadpool has a man crush on Spidey, so it's awkward when he is hired to kill Spidey's boss, Peter Parker. Pokes an old sore with the whole Mephisto/OMD thing. And then a guest writer pokes fun at the whole Hollywood movie thing, but tries to hard with obvious jokes.
Spider-Women Alpha amd Omega. The first and last parts of a crossover between Silk, SpiderGwen, and Spider-Woman. I dropped all three books while I was short on cash the last few months, and I haven't read either of these yet.
Squirrel Girl 7 and 9. Somehow I missed issue 8 and now I'm ticked about it. There is nothing that is not awesome about this book though.
Star Wars 18-20. The end of the Rebel Jail story arc, and then another Obi Wan on Tatooine flashback one off.
Darth Vader 20-22. Vader closes in on Aphra, and is dealing with all those poseur goons who are "rivals" for his job as the Emperor's #1 henchman.
Han Solo 1. So you have Mark Brooks doing the interior art, but not the covers? Is that a felony or a misdemeanor, because it's definitely criminal.
Thor 6-8. A two part flashback to Loki giving some Viking powers. And then SHIELD starts poking all up in Jane Foster's business.
Thunderbolts 1-2. Trying to jumpstart the franchise by having Bucky Barnes in charge of the original TBolts team and the little cosmic cube girl thrown in for good measure. The art is wretched. If I didn't know better, I'd say it was Liefeld drawing under a pseudonym. It's such godawful drawing, it's taunting me not to rip up the issues. Dropped, bitches.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
And the Sixth and final batch of catching up. Whew.
Transformers 52-54. All Hail Optimus continues as Optimus deals with annexation of Earth and the political fallout on Cybertron. Lots of great moments as Soundwave "joins" Prime's team to confront Galvatron.
Transformers MTMTE 52-54. Haven't read them yet. I am savoring the anticipation.
Transformers TAAO 1-2. The political maneuvering of Starscream and others back on Cybertron. I love that the TF universe can support three equally compelling ongoing books.
TF Sins of the Wreckers 4-5. The conclusion of the mini. Lots of betrayal and casualties.
Ultimates 6-8. More Civil War II tie ins.
Vision 7-8. The Avengers knock on the Vision's door. This book is an excellent tragedy.
Weirdworld 6. The Final Issue of a short lived, off kilter goofy book.
All New Wolverine 8-9. Haven't read them yet.
Wonder Woman 1. Rebirth. Wanted to see what magic Rucka could do now that he's back on the book. Meh.
AN X-Men 9-10. Apocalypse Wars! The X-Men crossover event that's not a crossover event! In the past, Evan meets a young En Subah Nur and they team up.
Extraordinary X-Men 9-11. Apocalypase Wars! In the future, the X-Men fight the horsemen, Colossus, Moon Knight, Deadpool, and Venom.
Uncanny X-Men 7,9. Apocalypse Wars! In the present, Psylocke and Magento face an army of Archangel clones. Or something. I missed an issue dammit.
So there you have it. All caught up. And already I'm behind a week since I got 16 more issues sitting here from last Wednesday.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Well, that was a lovely break. Not having to summarize for a few months really recharged my batteries. 16 books. Only one First issue this week, but plenty of CW2 tie ins. Let's get (re)started shall we?
Amazing Spidey 15. MJ puts on the Iron Spidey costume to help defeat Regent. There's a nice bit where Spidey, MJ, and Regent all "remember" the SW mini Renew Your Vows.
Batman 2. Two strange Superman-level superhumans show up in masks and Batman is already 'yeah, I trust these two'. Of course this is the new idiot Batman that couldn't tell his arch nemesis is actually three people. It's Tom King, so I'll stick around for awhile. It's already better than that overrated Snyder series was.
Cap:Sam Wilson 11. CW2 tie in. Both Carol and Tony want Sam to endorse their side of the issue. Sam signs on to Team Tony, but he doesn't necessarily like it.
CW2: Kingpin 1. CW2 tie in mini. Now that it's virtually impossible for villains to get any work done, since their preemptively stopped, the Kingpin finds an inhuman who's immune to Ulysses' precog and sets out to do some crime.
CW2: X-Men 2. Magneto contemplates what to do about the Inhuman precog, and sends Fantomex to Attilan for some recon work.
Daredevil/Punisher 3. Frank and Matt play chess and sale little sailboats in the park. No, just kidding.
Deadpool v Gambit 2. Haven't read it yet, but Acker and Blackef are always good for some cleverness.
Hulk 8. CW2 tie in. Everyone wants to make sure Banner is actually depowered, so Amadeus, Rick Jones and SheHulk show up to check on hi--wait. SheHulk is in a FUCKING COMA. That's actually a pretty big plot point from the main CW2 book! What the fuck editors?? Get your shit together, man. Get it together and put it in a backpack. Gruenwald is looking down right now and he's not pleased.
Iron Man 11. CW2 tie in. The Avengers show up to rescue Tony, who was actually undercover and didn't tell anyone, so the bad guy gets away. And Iron Girl tries to stop crime. This chick has had like 16 panels total devoted to her, and their already pimping her as the new Iron Man headlining a new series this fall.
Vote Loki 2. The pitch for this series worked better on paper than the actual execution. If this is a mini I might stick it out, but otherwise dropped. Also, it hurts to see all the great character development from both Gillen's Kid Loki series, and Ewing's previous Loki book tossed in favor of a by the numbers Loki.
Moon Knight 4. Moon Knight hallucinates that Moon Knight shows up. I guess I can stick it out for one more issue.
Punisher 3. If it weren't for Dillon's art, I think this might be a decent Punisher series. Not groundbreaking or memorable, but decent.
Silver Surfer 5. Earth welcomes its newest citizen, and everybody is gaga for the Surfer since he saved Earth. Norrin tracks down Dawn's mother.
Han Solo 2. So, it kind of annoys me that the Falcon seems out of place amongst all the other ships in the race. Like its a meticulously drawn vehicle that looks "real" and the rest of the ships are cartoony comic ships. Pulls me out of the story.
Spider-Woman 9. CW2 tie in. Jess is dealing with a Wendigo infestation in Canada, and her BFF Carol is campaigning hard for her to join Team Carol. So Carol hires her PI firm to vet Ulysses' predictions.
Yeah, that's only 15 books. The 16th was Transformers TAAO 2. which got lumped up above into the previous reading material.
Holy crap, my 'to read' pile is down to only 10 books. I mean, not counting like 30 long boxes of back issues. But the current stuff is almost caught up. Until tomorrow. There's a comic convention tomorrow.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
You must be exhausted after all the reading. The 3 X-Men Apocalypse stories are all blending together, even though they don't really overlap or have much in common. I can't recall what happens in any of these arcs by the time I read the next issue - gladly there is only one more chapter in each story as they are at the bottom of my reading pile big time. Wishing I hadn't bothered starting the All New story since it doesn't factor in & I don't normally get that book... I guess I thought they'd all be part of one bigger story (and if they are, boy am I missing something).

Transformers Vol. 9. Collects up to #49. God damn, this book is great, and it's the weakest of the three TF ongoings. Read this book.
I actually was sad when Tracks was killed (though it's one of those fake deaths negated the next issue that both TF and MTMTE are bordering on leaning too heavily upon). Not because I love Tracks, though who doesn't? They've done such a good job with the Tracks/Needlenose relationship that it's legitimately moving when Needlenose chooses the Decepticon cause over his brother.
Also your minor spoiler about Soundwave is no surprise. The traditional sides in this war are now meaningless.
Also placed an order today for the new collections of Atomic Robo and G.I. Joe ARAH. Seriously, Amazon, you'll send me emails asking if I'm still interested in something I clicked on on accident two months ago, but I've bought every volume of both these series FROM YOU and find out about them both over a month after they're released?
