A fellow manager at work recaught the collecting bug and is getting back into comics. I took him on a quick tour of several of the shops in the area last week and one of them had a huge $1 box area. Today I returned to carefully search and came away with 144 books. Since I bought so much(and a longbox to carry them in) they gave me a deal and I paid less than 50 cents per book.

You'll enjoy Planetary. It's pretty awesome. Warren Ellis was writing that in conjunction with the original Authority run - they go great together but certainly aren't required to enjoy each other. Cassaday.

Yeah, I think there was a rerelease of the 1st issue in one of those $1 marketing ploys (After Watchmen?) or maybe on FCBD and I loved it.
Nobody ever seems to want to part with their run though, so finding the series has been a test of my patience. I'm missing a proper 1, as well as 13 14 15 17 21-24 and 26.
But like most series, eventually a damn near full run will drop in my lap and I will pounce.

Yeah, I can see them being a bit tough - anyone that bought them when they came out would likely have been very fond of it & Not want to let them go. It was always a "top of the pile" book for me, although you read an issue in about 3.2 minutes. Cassaday & Warren Ellis both famous for quick books - the pair of them together was a bit over the top.

Also - your "money spent per comic" as time passes us by here is ludicrously low. Again, I'm a jealous bitch.

I would think some sw nerds would be offloading DHSW since it's not "canon" any longer - I don't know about your experience/comfort with ebay, but I'd maybe look for "star wars comic lot" and see if you can hit a big load for cheap.

I always meant to read Grendel. I picked up a deluxe 1 shot that was basically a history of the character on a flyer & thought it was awesome, but the trades seem tough to find, and I don't think the issues themselves are all that common either.

I had only read the Batman crossovers and I picked up WarChild series and really enjoyed it.
Some of the follow up minis are kinda bleak.


I have also had trouble finding issues. My Grendel collection is spotty.
