comics rock. talk about them here. now. or just go to the "corn" section and wack off. i'll understand. i'll just sit here and read my spider-man comics.
As far as I know, he has not. I kinda thought he was supposed to be the first CC, but I'd have to reread all the issues.
Here's what I got this week.
All Star Western 4. Haven't read it yet.
Annihilators: Eartfall 4. The Annihilators save Earth from the Magus.
Young Avengers 8. Doom steals Wanda's Hex Power and attempts to be a benevolent dictator. The Avengers and X-Men try and stop him. Magneto and the Young Avengers are caught in the middle This is just about the most Marvel-y Marvel Comic being written right now. It's as over the top as any 70s or 80s issue.
Captain America 5 and 6. The book is running late so they released two issues on the same day. Cap keeps dreaming he's losing his powers, then it happens for real.
Captain America and Bucky 625. A new story starting the 2nd Bucky from the late 40s, Fred Davis.
FF 13. The relationship between Val and Victor is very endearing. And Franklin stares down a bunch of Celestials.
Game of Thrones 4. Jon Snow gives Arya Needle before departing for the Wall. And an assassin tries to kill the bedridden Bran. The comic adaptation plods along.
Iron Man 2.0 12. In the FINAL ISSUE Rhodey saves the world from the Palmer Addley virus. Another decent series gets cut short too soon due to low sales.
Thor 9. Ulik, Karnilla continue to sow the Tanarus d
Deception on Asgardia. Loki goes to Norrin Radd who begins to remember Thor also. Meanwhile, Thor is trying to not get eaten by the Demigorge.
Journey Into Mystery 632. oops. Already had this one.
Uncanny X-Men 547 3. The X-Men defeat Sinister and also stare down Celestials (but different Celestials than the ones Franklin stared down in FF).
X-Men Legacy 260. Mike Carey ends his eight year run on this book by having Rogue choose Team Logan over team Scott. Oh, and Magneto is putting it to Rogue on a regular basis now. So, that's a thing.
I also bought my son some TMNT comics, and got some DCnU issues out of the 50 cent bin.

jjreason wrote:Big load of IDW Joe - 20/24 issues of the main series, Cobra & Snake Eyes to be exact from my go-to store in London (Christmas with my side today).
Now if a jigga was going to read these, would he read them 1-1-1, or 1-8,1-8,1-8? I'm leaning towards 1-1-1.
You should read them in arcs. It doesn't really matter so much as long as you know the gist of the overall Arc, which is the new CC candidates are trying to get the highest Joe body count.
The first four issues of Joe and SE are happening concurrently.
The second four issues of both series are also happening semi concurrently, but read the SE issues first.
The 8 issues of Cobra is one long arc, with the 8th issue acting as a Coda to everything.
Save GIJoe 8 for second to last, and Cobra 8 for last.

A small week with only 8 books. I was gonna go for 12, but then decided to put X-Sanction 2, Defenders 2, and X-Club 2 back on the rack.
Avengers Annual 1. It seems like every annual Marvel puts out now is a "1" doesn't it? Anyway, a sequel to the New Avengers Annual from last fall, WonderMan and his Revengers are back for more.
Avengers Academy 24. The Reptyl from the future, inhabiting his younger body, brings students to the evil Hybrid to feed on. The Academy needs a better vetting process, obviously.
GIJoe 9. Cobra Command begins. The new CC wastes no time having Cobra invading and taking over its own third world country.
Punisher 7. Frank isn't even in this issue (not counting the flashback to the DD/Pun crossover from 1988. Man, that brought back awesome memories). The issue focuses on the two cops charged with bringing him to justice.
Thunderbolts 168. Luke Cage attempts to bring in Mr. Fear in the aftermath of the of the FI breakout.
Villains for Hire 2. PurpleMan figures out Misty Knight is behind the rival villain gang.
Uncanny X-Men 548 4. A one off issue. The UXM take on a leftover Phalanx who's been experimented on by Sinister.
WaX-Men:Alpha & Omega 1. Brian Wood, author of many excellent Vertigo books, told DC to fuck off and came to Marvel. His name alone got me excited for this five issue mini, which is a mind battle between resident teen dickweed Quentin Quire and Headmaster Logan.
Now that I've finished today's reading and finished Assassin's Creed yesterday, I'm opening up Arkham City and getting started on that tonight! good times!

FI Fearless 6
GI Joe 9
Uncanny 3 - I really did quit the book, but he keeps pulling them for me. Odd.
Secret Av 20
FF13
Cap 5,6
Cap & Bucky 625
Avengers Sanction 2
Av Annual 1
Game of Thrones 4
The Boys #62 - Things keep building toward a big finale. Also, possibly the first comic to have cum on the cover.
Detective Comics #4 - Not read yet.
Fatale #1 - The new Brubaker/Phillips joint. Surprised to see its an Image comic and not Icon.
IZombie #21 - Not read yet.
The Punisher #7 - It was pretty cool to see that DD/Punisher fight from another angle, but they got the ending wrong, which is odd since both writer and artist had to have gone back to the original story.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero (Vol. II) Volume 3.
Got some questions and comments; will post in the dedicated Joe thread since now there are at least three of us reading it here. (You reading this one, right, JJ? If not, you should be.)

Even picking a copy out of the middle is a crapshoot these days. The way Diamond ships books now, there are tiny tears at the top and bottom of the spines of at least half the books I see lately. Sometimes they're only a centimeter or less, but I have to look closely on every book every week. And sometimes the guy orders so few copies of some titles, I gotta take a bad copy regardless.

I checked out Habibibibibibi yesterday and am about halfway through it. Didn't know much about it other than the stellar reviews it had all over the place.
Truth is, I'm a bit disappointed. It's not bad, but none of the characters are likable. At all. Sure, I know that half of them are victims and I should feel sorry for them, but they're just not sympathetic. It takes some balls to try to pull off a story like this with all unsympathetic characters, and, though I'm going to hold final judgment until I'm done, this fellow's not pulling it off--I'm not even convinced he doesn't know they're not sympathetic. The layouts and art are sort of "late Eisner lite," which isn't bad, but it makes it a bit tough to follow at times when his skills aren't at the Eisner level he's attempting. And I really, really think I could understand what's going on better if I could read even a little Arabic.
So far, at a library, check it out. For $35 cover price, don't buy the hype.

Speaking of books that got a lot of hype/press, I was in B&N looking to spend a Christmas GC and flipped through Frank Miller's Holy Terror. It took me about seven minutes to read the entire thing, which is just shitty godawful anti-Islamic revenge porn. You can totally tell its Batman and Catwoman, despite the cosmetic changes. Holy shit, it was bad.
