Steve Guttenberg getting star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Post by Newsbot »

Actor Steve Guttenberg is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, December 12.

The ceremony is taking place in front of the Hollywood Police Activities League office in honor of Guttenberg's starring role in four "Police Academy" films from 1984 to 1987. Guttenberg, 53, played the role of Cadet Carey Mahoney. Are you really reading this?

The actor is being honored with the 2,455th star. Comedian Jon Lovitz and Tom Sherak, the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, are expected to speak at the ceremony.

Guttenberg started his on-screen acting career in 1977 with appearances in the thriller "Rollercoaster" and the made-for-television movie "Something for Joey." He has appeared in more than 50 films. Seriously, when was the last time you thought of this guy?

Aside from the "Police Academy" films, Guttenberg is best known for movies such as "3 Men and a Baby" and its sequel, "3 Men and a Little Lady," "Diner" and "Cocoon" and its sequel, "Cocoon: The Return." He was one of several 1980s film icons who had a cameo in Michael Jackson's 1989 music video "Liberian Girl."

Guttenberg also played a shy, American cancer survivor who pretends to be a biker heartthrob from New Zealand in the 1990 romantic comedy "The Boyfriend School," which was also called "Don't Tell Her It's Me." The movie also features Shelley Long and Jami Gertz.

In 2005, Guttenberg guest starred on the drama series "Veronica Mars," playing a politician and former Little League coach who is dicovered by the title heroine to be a child molester.

In 2008, Guttenberg starred alongside Jessica Simpson in the film "Major Movie Star" and also appeared on the ABC reality show "Dancing With The Stars." He and partner Anna Trebunskaya were the third couple to be eliminated.

Over the past year, Guttenberg appeared in the film "A Novel Romance" with Shannon Elizabeth and in the horror musical movie "Eldorado," which features Daryl Hannah, Michael Madsen and Peter O'Toole. Guttenberg recently filmed the movie "At the Top of the Pyramid," which depicts the world of high school cheerleading and also stars "Lois & Clark" star Dean Cain. I find it hard to believe anyone is still reading at this point.

Guttenberg also recently filmed the political flick "Making Change" with Ed Begley Jr. and the comedy "I Heart Shakey" with "Vacation" and "Entourage" actress Beverly D'Angelo.

Yes, great for Steve. More importantly, why am I not a hot Japanese chick in a bikini?

Steve is getting a Star 30 years after he was relevant and "deserved" one.
And I can't emphasize enough the sarcasm that the word 'deserved' is dripping with.
