Netflix?
Anyone use Netflix? The good? The bad?
Since I finally have my PS3 and now have it online I've been considering getting Netflix, but I'm not sure if its totally worth it or not.
I don;t rent dvds that much anymore, but I will hit the Redbox every once on a while for a movie I kinda wanted to see but didn't feel like paying $8 at the theater.
If I do go with a disc option, it'd be 1 disc at a time.
What I'm more curious about is Watch Instantly, which seems to have a nice selection of newer, older, indie and otherwise hard to find to find flicks. One of the podcasts I listen to, the slashfilmcast, tend to recommend quite a few films on Watch Instantly, which has made me want to check it out even more.
I'll probably sign up for the free month and give it a shot. And I know I can cancel whenever, but I'm just looking for opinions.

The wife and I like it. I have it on the wii. Pretty great selection. It's a heck of a lot easier to load up your instant cue online and use the game system just for playback to the bigger screen. Cool thing with the ps3 and xbox is that I heard they are planning on streaming HQ if not full out HD pretty soon. We get the one disc option too for the stuff that they don't have instant on or want the surround sound for.

Re: Netflix?
we had neflix for a while before we started using the on-demand stuff, and felt like we weren't getting the most out of it. discs would just languish on top of the dvd player for weeks and stuff. then they unveiled netflix on the wii and we made all our money back. we seriously were watching so much netflix on-demand, we got rid of cable! apparently they're going to be increasing the amount of offerings for on-demand 50-fold next year, so it's a good time to start. we've noticed that ANYTHING that STARZ currently shows is on netflix, so they have some sort of deal.
also, they've apparently upgraded the netflix on-demand for wii to a wii channel, instead of a disc you have to put in all the time, which is so much better.
it's DEFINITELY worth it if you have it through a game system or a netflix compatible blu-ray player.

Re: Netflix?
If you have the time, it's absolutely worth it. I had it this year from January through May and I loved getting to catch up on movies I'd wanted to see, both through the DVDs and Instant Watch. Being at home during the summer, it was different as not everyone in my family would want to watch the movies I wanted to so it would take a long time to get to the DVDs, and then I had to stop getting it this semester when things just got too busy.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

Sonofabitchmotherfucker!
A few days ago I started to register for Netflix on my PS3. I go through the registration process up until I have to enter my credit/debit card info. I stopped there because I wasn't sure if I wanted to go forward or not, which is when I started asking for opinions.
I decided to go forward, I boot up my PS3 and start up Netflix. I click to continue registration and get this message:
I click to continue registration again and get the same damn message.
I try and completely quit Netflix and restart it.
Same result.
I restart my PS3.
Same result.
I redownload Netflix.
Same result.
I search online and can't find a solution. Both the Sony and Netflix sites are worthless for technical issues like this.
So right now I'm kinda pissed off.
I did find a toll-free Netflix number, which I'll call on tomorrow or Sunday.

Re: Netflix?
I finally got around to calling Netflix last week.
I had to totally delete the program and reinstall it.
So I got it up and going on the free month.
I really Watch Instantly but I'm afraid I may have lost my PS3 because of it...my wife is always watching the fucking thing and I never get a chance to play any damn games!

HAHA, yeah, that can happen. i just hooked the wii up for the fist time since we gut the first floor of our house, because i wanted to play LEGO Harry Potter. we were using the netflix disc, but now my wife just dl'd the channel instead. so much better as a channel than a disc. makes so much more sense.Diabolical wrote:I finally got around to calling Netflix last week.
