I picked up that Wolverine Saga freebie also.

I bought Wolvergins until issue 30 or so.
That was a title so bad even I dropped it.
It had some good stuff early on, but got dumber and dumber with each issue.

I was semi-interested in the X23 stuff. I loved NYX and picked up both X23 minis, which were decent, and her first 2 issues of Uncanny, which were very 'meh' inspiring. In the Wolverine Saga recap they say X-Force was trapped in the future by Kiden Nixon (of NYX) and Domino killed her so they could escape. Anyone know what issue that was?

EDIT: Nevermind. According to wiki, it was X-Force #16.

Also found this cool bit about NYX:
In 2001 writer Brian Wood developed a concept of the series for Marvel with artist David Choe that was to launch Marvel's MAX imprint. The ongoing series, focusing on the characters and how their powers affect their lives, friends and family, was to star Gambit, Rogue, and Jubilee, as well as Angie and Purge, two new characters Wood had created for the series. After Marvel aborted the project, deeming it not suitable for their audience, Wood used parts of this concept for his series Demo.
I always though Marvel should try some bigger name characters for the Max imprint. The Punisher was a natural because of his nature, but how cool could a Max X-title or any of the bigger guns at Marvel be?

That was in the Cable/X-Force crossover 'MessiahWar' in Cable 13-15 and X-Force 14-16. It was an alternate future Kiden which to me doesn't count.

Something something something 7 issues of Spider-Man, 2 caps, 3 or 4 X-books & a Daredevil or something like that. The fact that they cost me $61 prevented me from seeing clearly and thus I'm not actually sure what was really in the bag.

I've been spending about $60 a week for the past year. That gets me about 20 books. On a good week I can get it to under $40, but recently that has just encouraged me to pick up a few books I normally wouldn't try. So its usually 60 every week.

But you know me, I regard floppies higher on my essential for living scale than stuff like food and clothing.

On any given month, I spend maybe $40.
I'm shitting because this Wednesday is going to be a huge week for me with like 8 books ($30-35 worth) coming in.
I currently read about 7 regular monthly titles and 7-8 semi-monthly/mini series.

Most of my month is hitting this week.

Young Avengers II 2. Many of the Avengers were WAY out of character in order to lay foundation for the plot of having the YAs side with Magneto. Wolverine was damn near giddy relishing the idea of beheading Wanda if they find her. That drawback aside the final page was great. This is going to be an epic story if they do it right.
Brightest Day 9. A third of the way thru this series and I feel like I could paste specific panels from the previous nine issues into one issue and you would be caught up and not really missing anything.
GIJoe:Hearts and Minds 4. Brooks continues to deliver awesome stories. This issue juxtaposes Mindbender and Doc Greer's attitudes about 'playing god'. Wonderful issue. And I'm psyched to see there's going to be a fifth issue!
GIJoe:ARAH 158. The assault of Cobra HQ continues in Hama's retro revamp. The only thing that sucks is these issues go by way too fast.
Jonah Hex 59. I plead with all of you to pick up a couple issues of this series. You will be happy you did.
Marvel Index 5. More Avengers, Cap and Thor back issues. Its getting into stuff I actually own which is always fun.
Punisher v. Marvel 3. Frank and 'Patient Zero' make a pact to save PZs mate (who it turns out is pregnant!) From the 'King of Death'.
Secret Six 25. Bane and Banshee form their own team of six, so know we get 10 supervillains. Its almost twice the psychotic fun as before!!
Shadowland 3. Frank Castle gets his best entrance in years. "Kung Fu this." Unfortunately the rest of the issue kinda blows.
SL:Ekektra oneshot. Eh. Some cool ninja killing by Elektra, but nothing outstanding or insightful about the character or event. Its been 30 years and writers are still trying to mine Miller's work on the character.
Thor:For Asgard 1. Yikes. Thor and Asgardians kill womena nd children, then attempt to justify their actions in this Marvel Knight limited series. Some lines you just don't cross, y'know?
Wolverine:Road to Hell oneshot. Forgettable main story about Logans descent into Hell. But back-up story features first Uncanny X-Force story ever decently written by (gasp!)Remender as well as a GayWolvieSon vs. ClonedWolvieDaughter story setting up both of those series.
Wolverine 1. Title is relaunched yet again. Haven't read it yet, but it looked kinda confusing. but I trust Jason Aaron enough to stick around a couple issues.
Curse of the Mutants: Blade
CotM:Storm+Gambit
CotM:Smoke and Blood. Bought the three oneshot tie-ins. Blade was meh. The Storm one was good with Bachalo art and some character development for Storm. The science team issue had some of the most godawful art ever. I would say it was Paul Pope bad.

Franken-Castle #20 - So the rematch ends without any real resolution...shocker. Almost over...almost over...

Marvel Universe vs. The Punisher #3 - The identity of "The King of Death" was about as surprising as the identity of "Patient Zero." Still enjoying the series though.

Shadowland #3 - Agreed on the great Punisher entrance - good to see Frank back to normal. I wonder if we're seeing the seeds of DD's death, return & redemption here, with Iron Fist doubting that was the real DD.
And that has to be the worst Cassaday art I've ever seen on the cover.

Scarlett # 2 - It's too bad this thing is every other month. Great story and art.

IZombie #5 - Zombie girl, ghost girl, vampire chicks, monster hunters & a "were-terrier." Half light-hearted, half-serious, but a pretty good read.

Green Hornet #7 - This is supposed to go for 10 issues, IIRC. How long was the Kevin Smith's draft of the movie going to clock in at?

The Boys #46 - An issue full of conversation, but much is revealed. Ennis once mentioned he wanted the series to go to issue #70, and it looks like he's slowly building toward something.

Here's what I got.

Amazing spidey 641 and 642. (Saysomethingnicesaysomethingnice) ermm...that was.a really nice cover! Lots of blue! It was a pretty cover. Yeahhh.
New Avengers 4. Lots of bickering from Docs Strange and Voodoo and Damon Hellstrom. And Iron Fist gets a cool white costume.
Batgirl 14. Steph and guest star Supergirl have a girlie night and fight hardlight hologram Draculas. Eh. It was an alright issue. Lee Garbett is a really good artist. He's on the rise.
Batman 703. There's just something wrong about following a Grant Morrison issue with a Fabian Nicieza issue. Now I don't hate Fabs anywhere near as much as Chux, but seeing his name on the cover I was a little 'awww...'
Batman and Robin 14. Luckily, I got to read this the same day! Holy shit! Talk about ramping a Batman story up to eleven!! Morrison is either whifflebat whiff miss or Robinhood bullseye arrow splittin' accurate hit. And this one hit.
BoosterGold 36. This was my freebie this week. Its got Giffen and DeMatties writing BG and Blue Beetle, so its inherently good. All that's missing is Maguire.
Daredevil 510. Fuuuck. I liked Carlos. I liked how somebody took a mustache twirling villain cliche from the horrendous 90s Spider-Man books and turned him into an interesting character. Not all good or all bad, but struggling to be better. And then they shiv him and throw him off a roof. Fuck. Dammit.
Ender in Exile 4. Ender finds the Formic Queen. If you haven't read any Ender books, you've no idea what that means.
GIJoe 22. I realize its more realistic to have everybody wearing the same combat gear, but the cover is way cooler than the actual book because Wetsuit, Shipwreck and CoverGirl are all wearing their recognizable costumes. And Wetsuit was my first Joe figure. A friend left him at my house after a sleepover and I 'adopted' him.
Green Lantern 57. Larfleeze in Vegas. He sees an all you can eat buffet and his reaction is priceless. Oh, that poncer Jordan is in the book too but eff him.
Iron Man 30. 30 consecutively awesome issues. I know there's love/Hate for Fraction's writing, but this book is just superb.
Justice League:Gen Lost 9. The JLI takes the fight to Max.
PunisherMAX: HotRods of Death oneshot. Very good. Much better than the last one. Worth $5? That I'm not so sure about. But it was still good.
RedRobin 16. It is with a sense of Irony I note that the only writer who seems the least bit interested in using the character of Anarky in the DCU is the one our own anarky hates the most.
Shadowland:Blood on the Streets 2. The one thing I though was funny was that Misty makes some comment that in the past few months over a hundred known criminals have died or disappeared. And my first thought was 'you live in the same fictional universe as Frank Castle. That should not be as astounding as you are making it.'
Thanos Imperative 4. Haven't read it yet.
Thor 614. I kid you not. Honest to god full fledged sideboob in a Marvel comic.
TF:Drift 1. The origins of the Decepticon turned Autobot samurai warrior are told.
X-Force:Sex and Violence 3. There was lots of violence and then Domino goes down on Logan on the last page. No, I'm not kidding. He's getting a road hummer. Nina's a slut.

I hate him the most because he totally fucked up Anarky. And, for some reason, apparently Alan Grant and Norm Breyfogle can't even get DC to return their calls. Grant apparently had some massive falling out with editorial, but Breyfogle has no clue what's going on, and has even submitted several proposals to both Marvel and DC, only to have them both ignore everything.

Either or both could fix things. Breyfogle may not be a writer, per se, but he's proven that he's definitely no idiot who draws pretty pictures, either.

In truth, aside from New Warriors, Nicieza is just incredibly mediocre. It stands out to me more because he was the first writer I ever recognized as being mediocre, years ago, when it seemed like he did every fucking Marvel book except Hulk and GIJoe. (The Matt Fraction of his day. They both wrote too many books, and only one would actually be any good.) I'd read New Warriors, then groan if I saw his name on the credits of any other titles (which I never bought or avoided because of the writer or artist).

Maybe he's doing a decent job on Robin, but it seems like he's still in his mediocrity to me if he decided to turn this "General" guy into a new Anarky, killing an interesting character to use a recognizable name despite there being no reason whatsoever. It'd be like if Morrison decided to kill the Ventriloquist and make Professor Pig the new Ventriloquist just because the name had more of a cult following. For all his batshit insanity and firm desire to completely destroy the Batman title, I give Morrison more credit than that.

Well, in this latest issue, RedRobin defeats Ulysses and rescues Lonnie from him and brings him to Dr.Tompkins. Hopefully this reverses the direction Fabs had been taking both characters and Lonnie will be wearing the Anarky costume sometime soon.

Of course, he's such a complicated character with intelligently written motives, in the hands of a weaker writer he is and has been easily mishandled.

The Norm Breyfogle thing is a fucking shame. He was drawing Detective Comics when I first started reading comics on a regular basis, and he draws MY definitive Batman.

The man was born to draw Batman.

My LCS has an original Batman/Joker Breyfogle drawing framed on his wall.

Marvel Universe Vs. Punisher 4 - Good ending, even though it feels like it wraps up fairly quick and maybe it'll have a sequel.

Highland Laddie #2 - Part 2 of The Boys spin-off mini. Haven't read it yet.

Umbrella Academy #1 - Dark Horse's #1 for $1.00. Haven't read this yet either.

Morning Glories #2 - Picked it up due to the hype but couldn't snag the sold-out #1. So I'll wait to read it until I get the next printing of #1.

Amazing Spidey 643. Doc Ock continues his diabolical plan and Spidey is swinging around NYC with a minutes old newborn, thus making all of NYC think he's the biggest dickweed ever. Not a fan of Azaceta's art.
Birds of Prey 5. Not happy that Benes is already done as artist. It feels like the usual bait and switch DC pulls.
Brightest Day 10. What ho? An actual entertaining issue in this series? And an honest to god hero moment for Aquaman? Will wonders never cease.
GIJoe Cobra 8. Another 'origin' issue. This one focusing on Skullbuster. Whoever that is.
GreenLantern:Emerald Knights 2. Guy rounds up his posse of Arisia and Kilowog. Still don't know what he's up to though.
Heroic Age: Superheroes. A handbook type book from Steve Rogers POV assessing just about every hero in the Marvel U. Fun to read how Steve looks at guys like Cyclops, Punisher, Deadpool, etc.
Legacies 5. Crisis! Hits. Halfway point of the series.
New Mutants 17. NMs fight the Inferno Babies.
MU vs Punisher 4. Abrupt ending. Kind of a letdown, but still a decent series.
SL: PowerMan 2. Bit of backstory concerning the new PMs relationship to Cage. And all of PM/IFs cheesy 70s villains show up.
SL: Ghost Rider oneshot. GR goes to Japan and whups Hand ninja ass. Not essesntial reading, but pretty.
Thunderbolts 148. The TBolts get involved with Shadowland. I don't appreciate the irony of me finally completing this series back issue hunt just as its becoming lackluster, boring, and borderline awful.
Transformers 11. So the Combaticons work for N.Korea and now the Predacons are in the employ of China?
Web of Spider-Man 12. Final issue. Black Cat and MJ become BFFs. I really like Fred VanLente as a writer and I'm sorry the series is ending. I'd rather he was taking over ASM than Slott.
X-Factor 209. The team goes to Vegas!
X-23 1. First issue of the ongoing was decent. It was almost an issue of New X-Men with all the supporting characters interacting.

Skullbuster was a Range Viper Commander who was, IIRC, introduced in the GIJoe: America's Elite series.
