Oh, fuck, mabs! I just pulled up the third episode that's available On Demand, and it's the Kamandi episode!
Only five minutes in, and I about shat myself over Big Barda's line, "You know what'd be a real miracle? If you'd finally clean out the garage."
Honestly, at this point, this might be my favorite current show.
DB: Batporn can't be as openly discussed on my wife's laptop.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
And guess who's appearing on the new episode that debuts Friday at 7:30?
Kevin Motherfuckin' Conroy as the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh.
Fuck yes.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
Diablo- didn't get to check it out last night as Elf was sleeping and I don't turn the speakers on if that's the case. I shall inspect it later and post my thoughts.
Anarky- I am pretty sure you will like the show more and more with each episode. I was already enjoying it but being able to actually turn to my buddy as we simultaneously yelled "IT'S FUCKING KAMANDI!!!" was something I never imagined could have happened, given the gritty seriousness of most things super-hero-related in this day and age.
And the characters are handled beautifully. I don't recall the exact episode, but in one, several heroes are either being summoned and/or are aware of something big going down and rushing to the scene. In a quick 2 shot sequence, Aquaman rises out of this aquarium while receiving "the signal" and responds that he's on the way, then it cuts to Plastic Man who's hoofin it to the scene until he gets a transmission telling him that they have no use for him and that he shouldn't bother showing up. It wasn't emphasised, but the idea of Plastic Man being told he's even less useful than Aquaman cracked us right up.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
The best part for me was the appearance of Man-Bat... or, at least, a race of humanoid bats living in the ruins of the Batcave and calling themselves Man-Bats.
I know this show seems to gravitate toward the "stupider" Batman villains (apparently every 1960s TV villain has made at least a cameo, even those who have never appeared anywhere else other than on the Adam West show... including the one who was my favorite stupid villain until he came here and was an asshole and turned the boards purple), DCU villains who are totally inappropriate for a realistic Batman (Grodd seems to be a favorite), and the Dick Sprang Golden Age versions of the "major" villains (right down to Mr Freeze having the orange and green outfit and calling himself Mr Zero). But it'd be cool to see some of the later villains who aren't exactly stupid worked in eventually. I know there's no fucking chance in hell of seeing Mr Zsasz ever, but it'd be cool to see, say, the Ventriloquist (who, despite being a far more legit villain than you'd suspect, would fit perfectly here). It looks like R'as al Ghul has appeared, so there's hope....

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
Saw two more episodes tonight. "When OMAC Attacks" was decent. It's probably the weakest episode I've seen--still good, but, well, OMAC probably isn't on anyone's list of their favorite Jack Kirby characters. The intro with an hilariously overplayed Hawk and Dove was better than the rest of the episode by far.
The other was "Mayhem of the Music Meister." Music Meister, played by everyone's favorite flaming, singing ham, Neil Patrick Harris, takes control of the world and falls for Black Canary before Batman finally takes him down. And it's a musical. Sounds ridiculous on paper.
I have to pause here. I want everyone, especially Diabolical, know that I, one of the most hardcore Batman fans I know, a worshiper of the DCAU, who cried at the grandeur that was Batman Begins, and who usually is not fond of "silly" Batman stuff, am in my right mind, and fully aware of the magnitude of the statement I am about to make, and the borderline blasphemy it may, at first, seem to entail.
"Mayhem of the Music Meister" is nothing short of the best fucking Batman-related TV or film story ever. You somehow manage to work in references to the Bat-tussi and shark repellent Bat-spray along with Louie the Lilac in a chorus line, and have them alongside motherfucking Bane, in an episode more chock full of fanboy nods per second than anything else I've ever seen, you have created a fucking work of art. If they were to hold a second Council of Worms, the Vatican would unanimously declare that this episode must be appended to the Bible, right after Revelation, so the book doesn't end on a downer.
You must all see this episode. If you have Time-Warner cable, it's OnDemand right now. Other providers, I dunno. Really. All of you. It would be a mortal sin for me to deny spreading the gospel of the Music Meister.
Dig this clip:

Maybe I like it because I didn't especially care for Dr Horrible. In any case, you prove every day you are the Anti-Nark.

Perhaps you are the anti-diabolical...
I didn't just dismiss the clip as shit because it was BTBATB. I tried to give it a legitimate shot, but it just didn't work for me at all.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
Fair enough. Being the Anti-Nark isn't too bad; every Batman needs his Joker. Of course, you're not quite the Anti-Nark, since we agree on STP (even if they're on a higher pedestal for you), so you must be one of those "almost anti-" bad guys, maybe someone like Bane or Two-Face... someone cooler than Louie the Lilac (nothing personal, Louie).
Even if you didn't care for it, did you catch some of the crazier classic Batman nods, like Batman swinging over the crowd just like the shitty sequence from Scooby-Doo, which was so badly animated that it couldn't have not been on purpose?
Oh, fuck, they need to do a crossover movie between Brave and the Bold and Scooby-Doo (jumping back a few animated movies to Zombie Island, where it was still clever).

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
Shitfire, "Chill of the Night" was fucking AWESOME! Merging together two old stories (from the late Golden Age or early Silver Age) about Bats' origin, bringing in a ton of B:TAS voice talent, and even featuring Adam West as Thomas Wayne. Swear to God, if the character designs and animation style were a bit different, they could honestly have just had the B:TAS intro and no one would notice it was an episode of TB&TB.
Diabolical, even you should check it out if you get a chance. I'm not kidding. It's not the hardcore version of the origin (it's using the no-longer-canon Joe Chill whacking Thomas Wayne on behalf of Lew Moxon story and the tale of Thomas dressing up as a Bat-Man for a charity ball), but it's one bloody great episode.

Re: Another new Batman animated TV show
I have been watching episodes of BatB off and on all day and it is fucking awesome
I watched the Bat-Mite one, "A Bat Divided", "Last Bat on Earth", "Aquamans outrageous adventure" and "Gorillas in our Midst" and each had plenty of strong points. The Z-list rogues gallery that the "kick ass" aspect of batman seeks out in "divided" was fucking sweet
EDIT just found and watched "chill of the night", pretty damn good episode, and what an insane contrast to "gorillas in our midst", what an awesome show
EDITED the Second- for some reason the whole DC "character design" is really coming into hilarious focus watching these- the whole universe is mostly characters with 2 main attributes, "powers" and "weakness", and often the weakness is silly- I still to this day can't for the life of me make ANY sense out of the Green Lantern being powerless against yellow, for instance.
Oh and Detective Chimp kicking all that ass was super sweet, somehows
