Sylvester Stallone has hit back at critics who accused the actor of using a minor neck injury to promote his upcoming film.
Stallone revealed to FHM magazine he suffered a hairline fracture and needed to have a metal plate inserted in his neck after a "vicious" fight between him and wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin for the new film The Expendables.
Critics claimed it was a minor injury that the 63-year-old was using to hype up the release of his film.
But Stallone has hit back, posting x-ray photos of his neck injury clearly showing six screws and a metal plate inserted in his neck and revealing details of the break on the website Stallonezone.com.
"For the doubters and the haters, a picture is worth a thousand words. You walk the walk, you pay a price. But, as bad as it was at least we have it on film," Stallone said.
"To the haters, I don’t need to invent pain, there’s enough of it out there to go around ... The reason I was never seen in a neck brace is because I stayed home for three weeks to heal."
The Expendables is due for release in June. No word on when Stallone is going to quit doing action flicks.
