Chickenfoot?

uh, y'know, the sounds that sound good together... sometimes... and sometimes sounds like the disgusting "squish squish" sound Slicker's mom makes whenever she walks

Chickenfoot?

Post by Ran »

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chickenfoot

* Sammy Hagar - lead vocals
* Michael Anthony - bass guitar, backing vocals
* Joe Satriani - lead guitar, bass guitar
* Chad Smith - drums, percussion

Interesting line-up. Their cd is a Best Buy exclusive. And just to piss people off, there is one track that is only available on the LP. Music started coming back out on vinyl?

They showed the commercial about 7,000 times on Vs. tonight.
Sounds as shitty as the name.

I kinda dug it, to be honest. Much better than what I expect from the new "all Van Halen family!" Van Halen.

I think the CD was exclusive to Best Buy for a week, as I got it from Amazon. I can live without the vinyl exclusive track.

I don't know what's dumber...a vinyl exclusive track or their name.

Probably their name.

I've heard the album. It basically has the same sound as most of Sammy Hagar's solo stuff. If Joe Satriani's name wasn't in the credits, I would have never guessed that he's in the band.

Yep, sorta like that guy on the one Whitesnake album... Van? Val? Vai?

Steve Vai. I've heard an interview with him. He got his start with Frank Zappa when he was 19 or 20. The guy has been on a ton of albums. Supposedly when he was a kid, he took guitar lessons from Satriani.

I was being sarcasmic. Steve Vai is awesome. (You have to be to make it in Zappa's band.) But Slip of the Tongue sounds like any generic Whitesnake album, and you can't tell he's the lead guitarist.

Sorry. My sarcasm detector is broken.

I guess if you like Sammy Hagar, Chickenfoot is ok. I've listened to it 2 or 3 times. Nothing really stands out.

Sammy's solo stuff is, at least, more consistent than David Lee Roth's. Sure, Diamond Dave had a few early songs that were better, but everything's been horseshit since. I'd rather be consistently pretty good than really good for one album and awful for two decades.
