There is some hatred for Owen here. You guys have seen Meet the Parents and the first Shanghai Noon, right? (Second one is one of the worst sequels ever.)

he wasn't a huge part of the success of "meet the parents" though. shanghai noon, however, was the shit. he then went on the play that same character (in a different costume) in each and every fucking movie since.

granted, i enjoy THE character he plays. it's funny. but it just goes to show how much acting talent he has.

he was funny in "they royal tenenbaums" as well. strange thing is, his real-life brother plays a character who tries to kill himself in that movie.

I hated Shanghai Knights so much. I can't stand when a sequel comes in with no connection to the first, and they have to explain why actors who played major characters aren't in it. The first ended perfectly: Chon Wang is with the Princess in America, and Owen's character is revealed to really be Wyatt Earp. The second? The Princess has vanished, as has Wyatt's wife, and there's no fucking explanation there (okay, a feeble attempt for the Princess--nada for the hot Indian chick). Oh, and apparently he was lying when he said his real name was Wyatt Earp. Throw in England for no reason at all, and the most ridiculous forced attempt at the same type of historical coincidence with a kid who's supposed to be Charlie Chaplin, and you have the biggest load of shit this side of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

I guess he figured that he and Jackie were responsible for that shit, and he knew he had a much better chance of killing himself than killing off Jackie Chan.
