If you add up the complete run of Batman and Detective,
then toss in the runs on LOTDK, Gotham Knights, Shadow of the Bat, etc
plus all the Limited Series, Annuals, Bookshelfs, Graphic Novels, etc
and I don't know if you were inclined to add in books that were inspired like Robin, Nightwing, Azrael, Catwoman, Outsiders
and maybe even go so far as to add in all his appearances in JLA and crossover events...
...how many individual issues would that be? Gracious, how many pages of stroytelling have been devoted to this one character? Staggering.
You could do the same thing with Superman, and Spider-Man and see who really has the most issues out there...

Let's figure this out.
Off-hand, ongoing series:
Detective Comics
Batman
World's Best/World's Finest
JLA (I believe he's the only character to be in every lineup)
The Brave and the Bold
Batman and the Outsiders (now there's a real gem
)
Legends of the Dark Knight
Shadow of the Bat
Gotham Nights
All-Star Batman and Robin
Superman/Batman
I would also include the "family" books that tie in the most closely:
Robin
Nightwing
Azrael
Batgirl
But not Anarky or Birds of Prey.

just to put it into perspective, there are currently 1629 individual content records in the comic issues table of the wallcrawlersweb database. taking into account variant covers, think about 1580-1600 individual issues.
now take into account that batman has a lead of 20 years on spidey. that shit's cah-razy!

Spider-Man has had
Amazing Spider-Man
PeterParker, Spectacular Spider-Man
Web of Spider-Man
(McFarlane's) Spider-Man (Which became Peter Parker, Spider-Man)
Sensational Spider-Man
Spectacular Spider-Man (2nd go)
Marvel Knight's Spider-Man (Which became Sensation Spider-Man, 2nd go)
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Ultimate Spider-Man
Marvel Team-Up (which was predominantly, but not exclusively Spidey)
Is that all? I feel like I missed an ongoing in there around the time of the Spider Clone fiasco...

I know he wasn't in every issue of MTU, but I thought he was in a majority of them, as he teamed up with every other hero ( and sometimes villains) of the Marvel U.
